INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR HONOR MEMBERS Leader: Welcome all, to this program of the Hispanic Society of Friendship. We are gathered here for the initiation of this group of students, who have a strong interest in the Spanish language, and in friendship between people of different countries. Members: This Society was founded by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in the year 2000. The motto of the Society is: All for one. Its colors are red and gold. The name of this chapter is______________________. (A candle is lighted.) This candle represents the goal of the society. We promise to use the Spanish language to promote friendship through intercultural activities. (Another candle is lighted.) This candle represents community service. We promise to use the Spanish language to help others in the community. (The last candle is lighted) This candle represents school service. We promise to use the Spanish language to help our school. Leader: Now we are going to honor a special group. I have the pleasure of presenting the following Honor Members of the Hispanic Society of Friendship. Leader: (To the new Honor Members) Each of you has a small candle in your hand. It symbolizes your efforts to better yourselves, your school and your community. (The leader reads the names. Upon hearing his/her name, each new Honor Member will light his small candle on one of the larger candles.) Leader: I declare that you all have fulfilled the requirements to become Honor Members of the Hispanic Society of Friendship. Please repeat the pledge of the Society. As an Honor Member of the______________________chapter, I promise to use the Spanish language to improve friendship among people of other countries and our own, I also promise help my community and my school. This is my promise. (The new Honor Members should now extinguish their candles.) Leader: Welcome, new Honor Members!
