INDIANS’ WEEKLY! INDIANS CONTINUE TO ROLL

ON THE ROAD, PROGRAM NOW 20-0! THRU THE AIR AND ON THE GROUND, SCOUTS JUST POUND!

The La Puente Warriors were rudely awakened from their dream of being an elite team by our Scouts. The Scouts showed them that we are the supreme tribe around here and their dream is our reality. You hear it all the time; “the score doesn’t tell the story” and it doesn’t, because the game was nowhere near as close as the 36-6 thumping that was put on La Puente. Offensive “Player of the Game” was QB Paul Garcia having a career day with 127 yards passing and three TD’s. Two TD’s went to Steven Loera and the other to Alex Cortez who added a TD on the ground. “The game plan was to run it down their throat and score early and often, LP had never been down & we wanted to break their spirit early on.” Defensive “Player of the Game” was DE Anthony Cobian with 3 Sacks and dominated his side of the field, he also had a TD reception on the offensive side of the ball. Isaac Cruz continued to stand out at OLB and anchoring the left side of the O-Line. Cruz also made 4 out of 5 two point conversion kicks, which were his first attempts of the season! “We also want to give credit to our Lightning Offense who run our opponent’s (scout) offense at prac-tice & continue to give our first defense a great look,” says Head Coach Armando Valencia. Next on the list of victims are the Claremont Wolfpack, this Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

“GREEN,” PROVE DOMINANT OVER WARRIORS!

Once again the Running Bears “Green” proved their dominance over their opponent the La Puente Warriors. The “Green” team was led by “Players of the Game” Ryan Castro who caught a touchdown pass and had an interception for a touchdown (pick six), Nathan Castro throwing three touchdown passes and Isaac Mora catching one touchdown pass and pulling five flags. Also playing big this week was another “Player of the Game” RB Jashawn Morgan who had three carries for 45 yards and two huge first downs. Next on the schedule are the Claremont Wolfpack “Silver” team at 11:30 a.m.

INDIANS BAFFLE THE BEARS 44-0, BUT IT COSTS THEM!

The Indians successfully avenged their loss at the end of last season to the Glendale Bears by put-ting a shellacking on them on their own home field. The victory however, was bitter sweet as they lost six year Indian #22 RB Alex Garcia on the first offensive play of the game. This only helped to motivate the team and the onslaught of points began. QB Eric Bruesch engineered an offensive “ATAKAROA” (Yaqui for attack) that included scores by Isaac Mendibles, Michael Enciso and Abiel Aguilar. “Player of the Game” is Team Captain Manuel Solorio, who has taken the task of an-choring the offensive line at right guard. “He is in the battle on every single play and on defense, does the same. He can often be found in the opponent’s backfield wreaking havoc on quarterbacks. The pride of the Indians is #51 Manuel Solorio,” says Head Coach Julio Baez. The other “Player of the Game” is first year player Jose Rodriguez, who has been instrumental in his support on the of-fensive line. He has started two games now at the Center position and has proven he can handle the job, his size and strength are a definite plus for the team. Next up are the Claremont Wolfpack, Sun-day at 11:00 a.m. God help them….the Wolfpack that is.

THE “BLACK” ATTACK LOOKING GOOD!

The Running Bears “Black” team continued to look good against the La Puente Warriors last week as they were led by Offensive “Players of the Game” Anthony Mendoza, Daniel Lopez and George Rodriguez. Mendoza provided the lead blocks for Lopez paving the way to scoring three touch-downs, while Rodriguez provided the leadership and will to allow the offense the ability to score consistently. Defensive “Players of the Game” Andres Ortiz, Adrian Ortiz and Damian Lacey. Andres Ortiz pulled four flags, while Adrian Ortiz and Lacy provided a fierce pass rush and kept the Warrior offense at bay. Pascual Mejia caused a Warrior fumble and Jonathan Sotelo made an inter-ception on the one yard line to seal the victory. Next they play the Claremont Wolfpack “Maroon” on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

BRAVES BLAZE A TRAIL RIGHT THRU LA PUENTE, 37-0!

The Braves showed their supremacy completely taking apart the La Puente Warriors last week beat-ing them 37-0. This was mainly due to the consistent hard work of Defensive “Player of the Game” Victor “Smiley” Garcia, who led the way to the Braves’ first shutout of the season. Offensive “Player of the Game” WR/RB Lance Babb had a great game with a touchdown reception and some great runs from scrimmage. QB Adam “Bomb” Polanco threw some nice passes all day. RB Angel Ramirez added three touchdowns on the ground, while WR/RB Seth Cloud had one TD run of his own. “The team is starting to tighten up the engine on the field and should be running on all cylin-ders come playoff time, this was the type of win the team really needed,” says Head Coach Ramon Soliz. Next the Braves play the Claremont Wolfpack on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

WARRIORS HUNT DOWN & MASSACRE TIGERS, 44-0! The Warriors extended their record to 5-0 in very convincing fashion as they went into the Tigers’ den and hunted them down. The Warriors’ offense marched down the field on the first drive and scored on a 25 yard pass from QB Arrick Nava to WR Adrian Lemus. Defense showed their tenac-ity & grit by causing a fumble & recovering it on the Tigers’ second play. On their second offensive possession, the Braves drove down field, but fumbled the snap and turned the ball over. It would prove to be the only possession they would have without a score. Defensive “Player of the Game” was LB Neil Madrid who “had an interception in the 3rd quarter that almost went to the house, he was one tackler away from a “pick six,” says Head Coach Steve Rivas. Offensive “Player of the Game” was WR Ramon Preciado who “made a big time “Randy Moss” like reception snagging the ball away from the defender and taking it to the house.” The play resulted in a 60 yard touchdown reception. Next up are the undefeated Claremont Wolfpack on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
