Ans:- The family member assembled at the gate in great agitation. The old servant

was sleeping in the shed. They woke him up and announced him the arrival of

the cobra. They also said that his neglect of the garden and the lawns was the

cause for the entrance of the cobra. They warned him to find the cobra or else

he would be dismissed.

2. How did the snake charmer boast about himself?

Ans:- The snake charmer told them about his life activities and his power over snakes

. When asked how he caught snake, he immediately pounced upon a

hypothetical snake on the ground. He asked them where the Snake was, so as to

catch it. When they could not find, he gave his address and walked away.

3. Why did the sealed pot cause so much of excitement?

Ans:- When the people could not find the snake, they threw their implements and

went to rest in the veranda. Suddenly Dasa appeared carrying a sealed pot Dasa

began telling how he caught the snake and sealed pot. So the sealed pot caused

much excitement among the people who had gathered there.

4. Explain the sudden appearance and disappearance of the cobra.

Ans: - Hardly five minutes had passed since Dasa was gone with the pot, when the

youngest son carried out and claimed that he had seen the cobra coming out of

the hole in the compound wall. It soon glided towards the gate, paused for a few

minutes to look at the people in the veranda. Then slowly it crawled under the

gate and disappeared along the train.
