How to SAVE & SUBMIT

Check Before You SaveFirst, check to make sure your page is A4 sized and that you have a bleed of 3mm.

To do this, go to “File” > “Document Setup.” Here, you can check and change the size of your pages.

Check or change

page size.

Check Before You SaveSecond, make sure all images and colors that are supposed to touch the edge of your design actually extend all the way to the bleed line.

BAD! This will result in messy page edges when sent to a

printing press.

GOOD! Going over the true edge of the page will result in

clean-cut edges.

Check Before You SaveThird, make sure all images are linked. You will know that an image in properly linked when you see the link icon:

BAD! Link is broken. This

means you moved or deleted the

image.

GOOD! Link between your

document and the actual image is

intact.

If your link is broken, you can fix it by clicking on

the “?” icon. This will open a file search

window so you can find the location of your file on your computer. You

can also click the “Links” panel to find out what

images are missing and re-link them:

Package Your File“Packaging” is a method of

saving not only your inDesign document, but ALL the fonts

and images that were used to make your design. Saving a packaged file allows us to

open your design on a different computer than it was made on.

To do this, select “File” > “Package.”

Package Your File

You can check one more time before you package to make sure

you have linked all files. Broken links will say

“missing” next to the file name.

Package Your File

Name your package and choose a saving location.

Package Your FileA package is a folder.

You are saving your project as an entire folder.

Inside your folder you will see two inDesign file types, a folder of your

images, and a PDF of your doc.

Submit Your FileGo to the class website and find link to the submission folder that was given to you for the assignment.

Once you open the submission folder in Google Drive, right click to select the “Upload Folder” option. This will allow you to upload your entire package folder. Make sure to put your name and the name of the assignment on your folder and do NOT move or delete the uploads of others.
