Information GraphicsOwing FashionAfter looking at information graphics i wanted to explore it more so got some information about major fashion companies and created this information pieces. I looked at work from data flow and found the circular layout would work well with this information.

British wars from 1900-2010This is another information graphics i created. I love the idea of showing information quickly and efficiently. This piece was showing how was in charge of the country why Britain was at war. Also it shows if we won or lost. On the major was it shows the death rate as well.

Pride This is a price list i got commissioned to do. They wanted it to be clear simply and easy to read and understand. I re-did the logo to make it into a vector and added the hair and nails so it was early navigated around. After i did the price list they need appointment cards to go along with them. The appointment cards were easily done as they were very similar to the price list.

Colour my nameAfter doing the pencil project i wanted to do more, i was looking at tutorials on the internet and notice one with pencils it started out as the image to the left the pencils would feed into the fruit. I had a go but did think it worked well so i changed the fruit to my name. With this pieces i was exploring my knowledge of Photoshop rather than illustrator. I put a gradient on the lines that lead from the pencils to my name.

Passion & LoveI was exploring the illustration programme and was trying to work with colour and simple line. The first illustration was with out full colour, i was exploring thinness of line and constricted between the background and foreground. The second illustration i was working with colour on the girls.

Fashion MomentA fashion girl needed a layout putting together for her fashion moment. It was hard putting the text in as the black and white image made the text hard to read, she didn’t want a box, so i put the text along the bottom as that is where is was most readable. I also printed it to the bleed as it give the reader the pull effect.

The flying jacket was designed by Leslie Irvin who was the inventor of the parachute “rip-cord” and in 1919 was the first man to make a premeditated free-fall jump from an aeroplane. The Irvin parachute was quickly recognised as an important piece of aviation equipment and in June 1919 Irvin set up Irvin Air Chute to manufacture parachutes for the U.S. government. In 1926 he opened a factory in the UK and by the end of the 1930’s Irvin parachutes were in worldwide use. As aviation advanced so did the altitudes to which pilots could fly. Suddenly aircrew were flying to thousands of feet where temperatures would easily be sub-zero. This situation drove Irvin to create The Irvin Flying Jacket. The first aviator jackets were made out of leather and heavy weight sheepskin for durability, warmth and comfort. During the Second World War pilots added their individuality to create an identity for themselves. A-2 jackets were painted with everything from pin up girls and nicknames to airplanes. Another iconic look was the shearing lining which was intended to be used by the ground crew for cold climates. Whilst men were fighting at war, another pioneer Amelia Earhart was making her mark on history and fashion. In 1928 she was the first woman to make a transatlantic flight and by doing this became an iconic wearer of the flight jacket. Their popularity became symbols of honour, adventure and style. A major aspect to the success was Hollywood movies such as Top Gun. The unforgettable image of Tom Cruise in his famous aviator jacket and goggles, made the once handcrafted jackets collectable fashion items. Autumn 2010 and the aviator jackets are flying back into our wardrobes. The Burberry collection “Burberry Cadet Girls” which closed London Fashion Week, caused autumn to come early this year as the jackets filled out every high street store imaginable. The high street is commanding a new uniform this season.

EpsomAt the start of the term we were asked to go around Epsom and take in our views of it. I created a small illustration of are we were given and circled were we were. In the group discussion it came up that i should do one of the surrounding area and see if people would know its Epsom. I think its interesting, as it looks abstract but it we live and work.
