OPTIMAL SPACE UTILIZATION IN OPERATING ROOM

AND INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Ceiling-mounting systems

Independant®

The idea of using ceiling mounts that can be easily swiveled in place to have medical equipment or gases readily available

for patient treatment or care has long proved to be a complete success. This is not surprising in light of the benefits: flexible

positioning and optimal space utilization in the OR or ICU are obvious advantages, but – no less important – hygiene and

safety requirements must be satisfied as well. Yet there is still more to this concept: clear assignment of the various units,

elimination of cable clutter and, above all, the unrestricted movement of all components in the space around the place of use.

KLS Martin “pendants” are used in surgery, endoscopy, anesthesia, intensive care or simply as monitor supports. For all these

purposes, we offer perfect, customized solutions across a wide load range – from 30 to almost 1,000 kg.

The new generation of Independant® ceiling mountsfeatures a completely novel service head. The modu-lar design of electrical and gas modules, trays/plat-forms, drawers and infusion rails means superioruser-friendliness, facilitating the system’s use in the operating room or intensive care unit.

The entire service head is made up of the basiccomponents described below.

The base represents the supporting basic element. It is available in five different length configurations.

Gas, power supply and data modules are availablefor lateral installation. They can be optionally posi-tioned more to the front or the back for increasedclarity and ease of use. For each module, we tookcare to ensure a high integration density of gas outlets, power outlets and manometers. Besides, our focus was on a space- and weight-saving arran-gement of all components. The resulting volume reduction means considerably more freedom ofmovement around the workplace. All modules canbe fitted to either side of the base at the customer’soption. Thus, user preferences can be taken intoconsideration right at the planning stage.

The multifunction rack, which is available in threedifferent lengths, enables you to install various components for customized configuration. Trays anddrawers can be infinitely adjusted along their verti-cal support and can be seamlessly adapted to thedimensions of the terminal units for which they areintended. This again contributes to superior work-place economy and ergonomics. The rack can evenbe fitted with trays both at the front and rear foroptimized space utilization and balanced load dis-tribution.

In a nutshell, the rack can be used for platformtrays, drawers, flat-screen monitor supports andinfusion modules.

Trays are available in different designs and widths, with buttons for arm control and optional drawersunderneath. The handles are made of soft and hardplastic, thus providing integrated impact protection.Depending on their intended use and the space available, trays and drawers can be ergonomicallyinstalled either at the front or the rear. Integratedcable storage compartments facilitate cable manage-ment, keeping excess cable lengths out of the way. These storage spaces are closed off by a rubber sealing lip to ensure that hygiene requirements aremet as well.

The infusion modules are also available in variousdesigns and with hooks for up to four infusion bottles. They can be easily fitted – or even retro-fitted – to the multifunction rack.

There are a number of highly useful add-ons with which

you can round off your versatile equipment platform.

Flat panel monitor supportThe TFT support is installed on the multifunction rack.Height-adjustable, gas-pressurized spring arms plus an arm whose height can be conveniently fixed ensure perfect inte-gration into your workplace configuration.

Keyboard and typing supportThis swivel support meets all the ergonomic requirements associated with an OR workplace, thus neatly rounding offan impressive range of options.

SwingoM6 equipment trolleyDuring operations, it is often necessary to use equip-ment trolleys with medical devices required in addi-tion to the units installed on the platforms of theceiling-mounted pendant systems.

The SwingoM6 equipment trolleyis ideal for these purposes, notleast because it features a pa-tented locking mechanism thatallows fast and easy dockingto the multifunction rack. The trolley is available in diffe-rent designs, with an operatinghandle for convenient disconnec-tion of the trolley from the rackafter use.
