11-06-08 Meeting Minutes: The November meeting of the Colorado Springs Corvette Club was called to order at 7:00 by President, Sean Pazdzior.

October meeting minutes were approved. Diana D. read the November birthdays. Larry S. gave the treasurers report. Alta O. announced the visitors: Tom Hanon, Lorren Loewen, Paul Heatwole, Jack Frazee, and Belinda & Dan Russell. Those voted in tonight were: Tom Hanon and Belinda & Dan Russell. Welcome new members! Merchandise in always available. Order yours now for the up-coming holidays. Mike Neufeld, with Daniel’s Chevy, thanked members of CSCC for our continued business with Daniel’s. He also had on display some “garage art” which was the back end cutout of a Corvette. The price is normally $499, but were on special for $449. He also mentioned there is a C6 Corvette for sale on the lot. Price is $34,900. Vicki Ury thanked those who participated in all of the homecom-ing events and presented a check to Joy B. to go to our charity, Mission Medical. Chris %. said that the Golden autocross raised $777 to go towards the Christmas baskets. It was great weather, in the 70’s. Most of the cars got in between 8-10 hot laps after the autocross. He thanked all of the workers who helped.

Mike D. talked about the S*no Flakes rally. There were 26 cars that participated including 9 from the Denver area and 1 from Casper, WY. $560 was raised for the Christmas baskets. He thanked all of the workers and especially Walt J. for paying for all of the trophies in Karen’s name. He also thanked those who donated door prizes to include: Daniel’s, the Dittman’s, Water Works Car Wash, Al Serra, and Craig & Diane Wisniewski. He went over a few of the tricky questions. It was a beautiful day for the rally. Ed Redlin reminded everyone about the Parade of Lights coming up on Dec. 6th. The parade starts at 5:50 and line up is at 4:00. Please decorate your cars with lights. You may purchase inverters at Home Depot. He will call those who signed up to let you know where to meet and what position in line we will be. Anne S. had sign up sheets at the back table for the Christmas Party on Dec. 13th. It is $5.00 person and a potluck. The code to get into the gate for that night will be 06713. John G. also had sign up sheets for the Christmas Baskets includ-ing assembly, delivery, calling, donating turkeys and snacks for assembly night. Assembly will take place on Dec. 18th at The Springs Funeral Services and delivery will be the following Sat-urday, Dec. 20th. Hal T. also said that the King Soopers at Stetson Hills and Powers will be working with us on these baskets. So if possible go there to purchase your turkeys. There were more do-nations coming in during the entire meeting including a $300 check from Vance Davis’ employer. Thanks to everyone who has donated.

Pg. 8

Walt J. told of several upcoming events including the Turkey Rally on Nov. 23rd hosted by DCA. He also needs volunteers for the Planning Committee for next year’s schedule of events. So far Don A, Ashley M. and Walt have volunteered. The meeting will be on Dec. 7th, 2008. Newly elected Regional officers are as fol-lows: Pete Urenda-Regional Executive, Curt Ingram- Regional Competition Director, Ellouise Morrison-Regional Membership Director, Genie Reese-Treasurer, Barb Reynolds-Secretary. 2009 Convention: will be $150 per person to include food, par-ties, and goody bags. Events are extra. Joe H. volunteered for se-curity during the convention. There are convention t-shirts for sale. Workers will have their own special t-shirts to wear during convention. Rik %. brought up an idea of having “garage tours”. Basically it would be going to different members garages and discussing car stuff and perhaps working on the cars. Different host volunteers are needed. As always the lure of food will help. If anyone is interested please let him know. Patty S. said the Manitou Christmas parade will be Dec. 13th. It starts an noon and line up will be at 11:00 am. Please email her if you would like to participate. This years theme is Snowflakes and Smiles. She will send out an email with more info. Sean P. opened the floor for club charity nominations. The Trol-ley Museum and Mission Medical were nominated so far. Craig W. gave a brief talk about helping out a family, The Ma-louf’s, from DTRC. Their son was hit by a drunk driver while rid-ing his bike. Craig offered a suggestion of individual donations to help out. Also our prayers would be a big help as well.

Pg. 9

Sean P. suggested that we as a club give our annual donation to the Inn at Garden Plaza for their Operation Christmas Child boxes. We hold our monthly meetings here at no charge to us and we feel it is the right thing to do to help them out. Motion was made and passed to donate $250 for this worthwhile project. Congratulations to The Phillips for the purchase of their 2004 blue convertible. Winnie B. said that 9 couples went to tour the Cherokee Ranch Castle on Oct. 25th. Afterwards they enjoyed great burgers at the famous Bud’s Bar. A great time was had by all. The Good News/Bad News suitcase was brought back in by Walt

with Patty S.

giving the winning bid of $24. It was filled with lots of great stuff including some nice wine and several hats. Please ote: The January general meeting will be held on Janu-ary 7th %OT January 1st. Happy HolidaysHappy HolidaysHappy HolidaysHappy Holidays

Well once again the Holiday season is upon us. This means time for Family, Friends, and eating way to much. As always the month of December will be a busy one for CSCC. We have two Parades, a Christmas Party, and the Christmas Baskets all planned for this month. Nothing starts off the Christmas season like a good Parade.

First up is the Festival of Lights Parade on December the 6th in Downtown Colorado Springs. Ed Redlin is chairing this event for CSCC look for all the information in the newsletter or contact Ed. Next up on the December 13th is the annual Manitou Christmas Parade. Patty Strauch will be chairing this event. So if you’re interested in participat-ing please contact Patty. December 13th is also the date of CSCC’s an-nual Christmas Party. This year the Christmas Party is being chaired by Anne Silvers and her Merry Bunch. The Christmas Party will be pot luck with music and games. As always this is a great event to socialize with your fellow club members. Look for all the information in the newsletter or contact Anne. Parties and Parades are great and a lot of, but not nearly as fun as helping others. Now we move onto the Christmas Baskets. This year CSCC will be putting together and delivering 160 Christmas Baskets. The Christmas Baskets this year are being chaired by The Tumblesson’s, The Gue’s, The Strauch’s, The Ury’s, and The Cherry’s. CSCC will be assembling the Christmas Baskets on December 18th at The Springs Funeral Services. Then we will meet at The Springs Funeral Services on December 20th to deliver the Christmas Baskets. The Christmas Bas-ket Gang will need a lot of help so if you have not volunteered or do-nated yet please do so. Nothing can replace the feeling of knowing you made a difference in someone’s Christmas. Merry Christmas, Sean

Charity Discussion I thought it would be appropriate to discuss with the club members some infor-mation I brought forward at Tuesday nights Board meeting. The following were thoughts I suggested we post in the newsletter a couple months before the new charity was decided on at the January business meeting. This should help the members gather the information on the charity before presenting so an in-formed decision can be made by the CSCC members. A few board members thought we should also include the final suggestions in the CSCC STANDING RULES AND GENERAL POLICIES. This topic will be discussed at the March meeting. ments within the charity.

Charity Discussion Follow-up As you know from the February meeting the membership voted to retain the word “Local” in the CSCC STANDING RULES AND GENERAL POLICIES. At the March meeting someone noted that “Local” is not defined in the CSCC STANDING RULES AND GENERAL POLICIES so this needs to be re-addressed with the membership. Someone also wanted to know if local was city limits or mailing address (ZIP codes). Someone else also wanted to know why Fountain and Security were not included as “Local”. Obviously they were not at the Feb meeting. I am not sure where to go with this subject, so we need to discuss this at the April Board meeting. I believe Rob omitted the Charity Discussion from the newsletter because of this confusion. I personally would like to delete the word local and leave it to the membership vote at the time of the charity nomination. In this way all members present can discuss and vote whether the charity serves the Colorado Springs Corvette Clubs goals. In this way the members who live in Fountain, Security, Peyton, Monument, Sedalia, Florence, Florissant, Manitou Springs, Cascade, Elbert, Pueblo, Franktown, and Woodland Park would be eligible to introduce their charity. These are all cities that are represented by our membership. I also think if a member makes a case for supporting his or her favorite charity re-gardless of location (Camp Wapiti and Praying Hands Ranch are examples) it should be allowed. Some of our members have a direct link to cancer, diabe-tes, and other organizations that help children and adults and I don’t feel they should be disqualified because of locality. Another issue I would like to discuss is whether the event chairperson can do-nate all or a portion of the profit proceeds to his or her charity. This means the donation has the potential of leaving the “Local” area. I don’t believe this is discussed in the CSCC STANDING RULES AND GENERAL POLICIES.

It was a perfect sunny warm day for the S*no Flakes Rally that took place on Nov. 2nd, 2008. Twenty Six cars ran the rally including nine from the Denver area and one from Casper, Wyoming. The club raised $560 to go towards the Christmas Basket Fund and 3 laundry baskets of canned goods were donated as well. As always what makes a rally run smoothly is the workers. I would like to once again thank those workers who included: Alta & Pete Olejnik, Diana Ditt-man, Winnie Bochnak, Joe Horvath, Sean Pazdzior, Anne & Bud Silvers, Jane Creighbaum, Don Adametz, Gary & Debbie Yale, Wayne Umland, Patty Strauch and Craig & Diane Wisniewski. Everyone did a fabulous job. The hat trophies were paid for by Walt Jenkins. Walt did this in Karen’s mem-ory. Rik Noring of the Corvette Center gave me an excellent price on the hats. A great big thanks goes out to both of you. Door prizes were donated by: Daniel’s, Water Works Car Wash, Al Serra, Diana Dittman, and Craig and Diane Wisniewski. Thanks to all of you for do-nating. Thanks to Hal and Cindy Tumbleson for the use of their copy machine. Thanks to Garden of the Gods Visitor Center and to On the Border Restaurant as well. Most of all thanks to everyone who participated. 1st place-Rik & Florece Noring 2nd place-Jerry & Denise Phillips 3rd place-Pete & Alta Olejnik 4th place-Roger Miller & Kitty Divis 5th place-Gail & Adrienne Creighbaum 6th place-Michelle Volk & Jennifer Robinson 7th place-Melvin Swindale & Derek 8th place-Mike & Jackie Malouf 9th place-Tom & Vicki Ury 10th place-Andy & Kristi Geraci I must say that this was a learning experience for me and I couldn’t have pulled it off without all of you.
