In this experiment, we poured vinegar into the flask and baking soda into the balloon. We wrappedthe balloon around the top of the flask and carefully poured the baking soda into the flask. The baking soda and the vinegar combined and created a gas which inflated the balloon!

These are dirty pennies! We “washed” them in a mixture of salt and vinegar!

Our pennies are now very shiny!!!!

In the next few slides, we have pictures of Flat Stanley! Flat Stanley is our

buddy that is going on many different adventures with us around the universe!

In the next 3 slides, you will see the activities that Flat Stanley did in Egypt! We explored how the Egyptians wrote in different symbols called hieroglyphics. We also watched movie clips on the daily life of Egyptians as well as their pyramids and how the mummified their ancestors.

In the next few slides you will see the students’ names. We wrote our names using “puffy paint”! To do this, we used glue, tempera paint, and shaving cream! We had fun using paint brushes as well as getting our hands dirty!!!!

In the following slides, we tested to see which apple would turn brown faster…the one with the lemon juice, or corn syrup, or salt…

Our results at the end of the day!

We have done a lot of chemical reactions this month!!! Check out your son’s experiment packet! We made predictions, explored the reactions, and drew pictures of what happened! The kids had a ton of fun!
