Communities for Children Onkaparinga provided free school holiday activities during January 2016. Activities included a number of 2 hour surfing lessons and Pop Ups in the Park. Over 110 children participated in the free surfing lessons run by Surf Culture Australia that included learning new skills, wipeouts, laughter and maybe even the next Australian Surf Champion or two. Around 130 children and their families attended the Fun in the Park events that were held at four different venues in the Onkaparinga area. Children played together on the Imagination Playground making many amazing creations, many battles were won and lost on the giant board games which included Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders, Noughts and Crosses and glitter tattoos adorned many arms of children and adults. Each day was full of fun and laughter...

WE NEED YOUR INPUT!

http://onkaparinga.opinio.net/s?s=1471

We would appreciate you taking 5 minutes to complete a short survey and help inform the

planning of Onkaparinga Youth. Your opinions and ideas are extremely valued and

are key to informing our work and ensuring our planning is hitting expectations

Onkaparinga Youth provides programs and activities for young people aged 8–25 years

throughout the Onkaparinga region with a particular focus on recreation, arts, music and leadership.

Onkaparinga Youth supports young people to

become actively involved in their communities by providing opportunities for fun, learning and

personal growth. We provide opportunities to meet people, share ideas and find things to do, such as getting involved in events, joining a committee or

participating in one of our many interesting programs.

This is through our three youth facilities (Aldinga, Christie Downs and Reynella) or at many other

locations such as community centres, skate parks, libraries, halls, schools, local parks and beaches.

Our work alongside young people is youth directed and this is essential to ensuring the activities are

what people want, are fun, meaningful and community owned.

The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a free, two-year, home-based early learning

creating a learning environment in the home that encourages the development of literacy skills

increasing the chances of positive early school experience among children and parents

empowering parents to understand their crucial role in developing their child’s readiness to learn

providing children with stimulating and varied learning opportunities

enhancing interaction between parents and their children

engaging parents and children in the joy of learning

reducing the social isolation of parents

Depending on how old your kids are, preparation for these Easter biscuits is easy to do in advance Preparation Time: 10 min Cooking Time: 10 min Makes: 40 small biscuits Ingredients:

125 g Butter 2 eggs. Lightly beaten 2 tsp milk 1 tsp lemon juice 1 1/3 cup SR flour 2/3 cup castor sugar 1 cup plain flour 1 tsp grated lemon rind 1/3 cup desiccated coconut You will also need: a bunny shaped cookie cutter

Method:

Beat the butter & sugar together with the lemon rind & juice until well combined. Mix in the eggs (mixture should appear slightly curdled). Combine the wet mixture with the flours & coconut, ensuring there aren't any floury lumps. If the mixture is a little dry,

add milk a little at a time until desired consistency is achieved. Lightly knead biscuit dough on a well-floured surface. Roll dough to about 1/2cm thick & cut into individual bunny shapes using the cookie cutter. Place uncooked biscuit onto a baking tray, making sure there is room for them to spread as they cook. Bake in a moderate oven (180 celcius, fan forced) for 10 minutes. Once biscuits are thoroughly cooled spread one side of each biscuits with

white icing, then coat with desiccated coconut. Cachous (little sugar balls) can be used for the eyes. Recipe from - http://recipeyum.com.au/
