#1 in the Senior Mobile Market*

We have succeeded in turning a bold idea into the world’s most complete offering in easy mobile communication for seniors. “We,” of course, includes every one of our partners that has contributed to and profited from the success of this endeavor. Together we have made Doro the #1 brand in Europe’s Senior Mobile Market as confirmed in major countries such as

Germany, the UK and France in 2011*. And along the way Doro has received some of the most prestigious international design awards – a tribute to our belief in designing products for seniors, with seniors.

Seniors 3.0

That seniors represent a diverse target group is nothing new. Still, people approaching retirement today are, in one respect, far different from those of five to ten years ago. Most people born in the 1930s would have retired without ever using a mobile phone, never mind a smartphone. Those born in the 40s who are now retiring have not only had more experience with mobile devices, but also with computers and the Internet.

And they enjoy a more active lifestyle. At Doro, we make it our business to know all we need to about this emerging generation of seniors so we can bring them products suited not only to their needs, but also to their desires.

The ‘new’ generation

That’s why we conduct ongoing research with the help of Ipsos/Synovate. Through in-depth surveys we study the habits and attitudes of seniors in major markets. We also monitor trends in senior health and fitness. Because knowing how seniors differ

from each other is a prerequisite for developing a broad range of products, including mobile health applications, to suit different types of people. And knowing which seniors are likely to embrace our products means we don’t miss.

Seniors are not defined by the years in their life, but rather by the life in their years.

Challenges still arise

Instead, we’ve become the brand that others try to copy. Seniors today may feel younger than their years, but even the mostphysically active will notice a small but gradual deterioration in their hearing, dexterity and vision that comes with aging. Research we have commissioned tells us what seniors really want and need.

And by involving them in the development of new products, we’ve developed expertise in product development that helps our users manage these often subtle physical challenges they need to cope with.

If seniors only wanted big button phones, then Doro would be just another brand among many.

More than big buttons

By working with audiologists, hearing aid specialists and organi-zations such as action on Hearing Loss (formerly RNID) and The Swedish association of Hard of Hearing People, we create the mobile phones that enhance hearing capability. To achieve this we

combine adjustable frequency settings for customized tone and amplification with other practical features such as Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC), strong vibrating signal, visual ring indicators, long SMS tones and vibration, and more.

Our product development is strongly influenced by organizations such as the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and The Swedish association of the Visually Impaired (SRF). We combine sharp, high-contrast displays with carefully verified

background colors and themes. Display brightness and text sizes are adjustable. Menus offer large, specially designed icons that are accessed using large, separated keys with concave surfaces and high-contrast characters.
