A Message from Director, Suzan Kurry Southern-born Beth Henley published Crimes of the Heart in 1982, winning the Pulitzer

for her now well known play. Henley trained as an actor at SMU, and that education

informed her writing from the very beginning. Henley writes for actors, giving them rich

dialogue and a range of emotions to play. It has been a pleasure exploring the ebb and

flow of this tightly written script. We sincerely hope you enjoy navigating these deep

emotional waters with us. Thank you.

Meet The Cast

Alissa Taylor is excited to be back in the theatre after taking a hiatus from acting. Crimes of the Heart has been a welcome challenge for her, and the cast and crew has been so friendly and supportive. Alissa is thrilled to be performing in the Bartell Theater once again. She was last seen here in School House Rock Live! Other roles Alis-sa has enjoyed performing are: Ruth Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life, Yonah in Children of Eden, and 1st Fairy in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Alissa would like to continue acting and will always have a place in her heart for the theatre. She would like to thank her friends, family, the cast and crew, and her boyfriend Aaron for being so supportive. This show has reminded me of how lucky I am to have a loving big sister. Thank you Jessann for always being there for me and making me laugh. I love you. Jan Levine Thal, Krass Artistic Director, began her obsession with theater in Hansel and Gretel at the American School in Japan at age 10. Since then she has acted, directed, crewed, and written for the stage, as well as volunteering at WORT-FM. Broom Street Theater will produce her first full-length play, Cassandra's Gift, in December. Her novel, Clean to the Bone, will be published next year. She thanks the amazing cast and crew of Crimes, her fabulous family and friends, and especially her son, Jeremy Thal. Betsy Wood is thrilled to be performing with KRASS for the first time. She was recently seen in Stroller's The Madwoman of Chaillot and will next be returning to the Broom Street Theater stage in The Sweet Lowdown. A million thanks to all sponsors, the cast and crew, and the audience for taking this journey with us. And always, Brad Knight. Stephanie Robey is happy to be back on stage with Kathie Rasmussen Women's Thea-tre! Some of her favorite roles include Rose in Dancing at Lughnasa, Titania in A Mid-summer Night’s Dream, and Esther in The Arsonists. She also is proud to have recently directed Collected Stories with Stoughton Village Players. She thanks you for coming and hopes you enjoy the trip to Hazlehurst, Mississippi. C. John Shimniok Is excited and honored by this opportunity to help bring this piece to life with such a wonderful and talented cast and crew.

Katie Brotherton likes singing and whiskey. Donations are always welcome. Geremy Webne-Behrman is thrilled to be part of Crimes. After spending a year in At-lanta in an acting apprenticeship with Horizon Theatre Company, he is enjoying acting in shows in his home of Madison once again. Geremy feels bitter sweet about the Breaking Bad finale, but will carry on since he has the entirety of Fringe to catch up with on Netflix. Legend of Korra is also providing much entertainment and is hoping that Korra will enter the Spirit world soon. Game of Thrones needs to have more than just ten epi-sodes every year. George R.R. Martin, you are a cruel cruel man. I cannot decide if you are more or less humane than Moffat and Gilligan. Simone LaPierre is ecstatic to be part of this KRASS production, as both actor and pro-ducer, and is eternally grateful to all involved for helping to make her dream come true. A huge shout-out to Suzan and the entire cast & crew for their faith, time and tal-ents. She'd also like to thank her co-producer, Kelly Fitzgerald, without whom this production would not exist; Lexi, for her courage; Katie, for being her rescue fairy - and Belz, for never giving up on her. Simone is delighted you came out and hopes you enjoy the show! Kelly Fitzgerald is usually on stage. In fact, if you’re here on opening weekend, she’s on stage upstairs in the Drury right now performing in Much Ado About Nothing. If you’re here on the second week, she’s merely a producer again. Much love to Cam, Simone and Suzan. As always, I owe my heart and soul to my current husband, Thomas. Suzan Kurry is delighted to be back with Krass, this time directing Crimes of the Heart. She thanks Nathan for toting stuff to her car, and she thanks you, the audience, for sup-porting the arts.

Thank You

Kathie Rasmussen Women's Theatre

Since its founding in 2008, Kathie Rasmussen Women's Theatre (Krass), has produced a

number of plays written and directed by women, most recently Ten Thousand Moons

from Here by Kathleen Allison Johnson and Gail Sterkel. Crimes of the Heart represents an

expansion of empowering women artists to actualize their visions. When Simone LaPierre

approached Krass for support of Beth Henley's classic Pulitzer prize winning play, Krass

agreed that it was a worthy and exciting project. Unlike in the past, when we produced

the show ourselves, we offered our name and limited financial support to the amazing

and profound production you see before you, produced and directed by people Simone

selected, whose vision and devotion to this project have been exemplary. Future plans

include Marsha Norman's 'Night Mother directed by Dana Pellebon, an evening of Caryl

Churchill short plays, and possibly your project.
