D. Equity Plan

PL 107-110 (No Child Left Behind) requires that states and schools systems ensure that low-wealth, minority, learning disabled and/or English language learners are taught by experienced and Highly Qualified teachers to the same extent as are students who do not fall into these categories…

Equity PlanLEA Equity Plan must :

• Assure principals in all Title I schools send required notification to parents

• Ensure parents of students in Title I districts are notified they may request professional qualifications of their children’s teachers

• Ensure poor or minority children are not taught by inexperienced, unqualified, or out-of-field teachers at higher rates

LEA Equity Plan must :

• Identify any inequities in assignment of unqualified and/or inexperienced teachers to minority, learning disabled, low-wealth, or English language learner

• Describe specific strategies to address the inequities on the equity plan, including a timeline

• Each LEA evaluates its Equity Plan and makes adjustments based on the impact of the evaluation

G. Non-Public School Participation

Private School Participation

Professional Development • Services are based on the private school

needs assessment and can be provided in a variety of ways:• participation in scheduled professional

development at the LEA• qualified LEA staff providing services to

private school staff• third party services (registration to

conferences or contracted trainer)

Eligible Activities may include:• Improving knowledge and skills of teachers

and staff in core academic subjects• Effective instructional strategies, methods,

and skills• Integrating technology into curricula• Teaching students with different needs • Methods to improve student

behavior/classroom management• Principal training• Training in the use of data and

assessments to improve instruction

Take Note:• Title II A funds can be used for professional

development for teachers and staff, not student materials.

• Professional development around core academic subjects, which can include faith-based conferences.

• Professional development must align to the needs of the private school educators.
