Issue:
Our district uses Google email and cloud computing applications almost exclusively. Our school calendar uses Dynacal which does not synchronize easily with Google Calendar. Teachers are less likely to use Google Calendar.
Solution:
Create a step by step method to synchronize Google Calendar with our school districts calendar
Synchronizing Google CalendarTo begin, we will open Google Calendars by logging into our Google accounts. This can be done by
simply hovering the cursor over the small block of nine squares in the upper right hand corner of the Google
homepage. These small blocks are your “Google Apps”. By clicking on this icon, you can see a drop down list
of available Google applications. Clicking on “Calendar” will bring up your account calendar in a new
browser tab.
To the left of the screen you’ll see a side menu titled “Other calendars”. By clicking on
the small down arrow next to the menu title, you see a drop down menu. We will be
selecting “Add by URL”.
You see a window appear that provides a space for you to paste the Webcal URL
webcal://feeds.dynacal.com/calendars/hnschools_MyDynaCal62079.ics into the URL
address bar (Ctrl + V).
Click “Add Calendar” to synchronize the school’s calendar to Google Calendar! You’re done!
