Implementing a Statewide Maternal
Transport Nurse Course:An Academic & Clinical Collaboration
Objectives:
• Describe how a statewide collaboration of academic and
clinical providers promotes evidence-based nursing
practice, creating a standard of care.
• Explain how collaboration of academic and clinical
providers, and the coordination of resources promotes
development of cost effective simulated learning
experiences, for students and registered nurses, with goal
of improving perinatal outcomes.
• Describe how a simulated transport, utilizing student
nurses as standardized live patients, enhances the
learning experience for both the labor and delivery nurse
and the student nurse.
