secutex®- impact protection – that counts!

Damage caused as a result of not having impact pro-tection represents a significant part of the overall costsof a product. The main causes are carelessness, negli-gence and incorrect handling.

The result is preventable damage to goods and stock. But also downtime as a result of injuries or noisedamage is a cost factor that is easily forgotten but hasa considerable effect on profits.

secutex reduces unnecessary costs and removeshazards.

An everyday occurrence: A chute filled with metal parts is emptied into a container for further processing. The sudden noise startlesstaff in the works hall and disrupts theirconcentration.

Result: In a works hall with 20 employees, loud thudding noises occurringevery 10 minutes will result in the loss of at least 100 work hours peryear (acc. to statistics).

Take action now! secutex will considerably reduce any noise problems.

What advantages doessecutex® offer your company?

Familiar scenario?Trouble ahead!Your second best driveris driving the fork lifttruck. He selects thereverse gear, places hisfoot on the accelerator, accelerates and bang – the forklifttruck loaded with expensive products crashes into a shelfunit …

Result: Goods are damaged, the shelf unit is deformed, theforklift truck has broken down. Waiting for a repair service, unloading an entire shelf unit, the works look like a buildingsite … lost time and money. Even if some of the damage iscovered by insurance, the result is annoying.

Ensure that secutex impact protection is installed everywherewhere goods and stock are to be protected against acciden-tal impact: A solution that pays for itself.

Benefit from our exper-tise. Take advantage ofour know-how!

secutex is an excellent polyurethane elastomer with aparticularly advantageous combination of physicaland chemical properties:

High structure retentioni.e. compared to other chemical materials, secutexhas an extremely high tensile strength. The secutexmaterial can be stretched to 500 % of its originallength withoutbreaking.

High flexibilityi.e. compared to conventional rubber, secu-tex offers a considerably higher flexibility. And even under extreme temperaturefluctuations, secutex remains flexible.

Extremely hard wearingi.e. secutex is practically indestructible. In wet wear-resistance tests, secutex fared better than manymetals.

secutex® – simply effective!

1. The impact reduction effectHope for the best –expect the worst …

Where forces clash, something normally has to give.Impact damage to goods, materials and stock is oftencaused by carelessness, negligence, foolishness, incorrect handling or inadequate protection. Acci-dents are unpredictable. Consequently everythingshould be done to prevent any losses.

Rule of thumb for impact protection: The more rigid and thinner the secutex material, the lower the impact-reducing (elastic) protec-tion.The thicker and wider the secutex material, themore secure the impact-reducing protection.

Additional foam layers or hollow sectionsdeforming in case of an impact, increaseimpact resistance.

3. Anti-slip protectionsecutex prevents loads from slippingduring transportation

In tests, secutex scored highest compared to all othersimilar materials.secutex not only fulfils the standard but exceeds thecoefficient of friction regarded as the standard.

Guide values for dry friction

In case of wet or oily surfaces, we recom-mend secutex with textured surfaces. Thisensures that the direct material contact is

restored.

2. Noise-reduction effectWho does not want to avoid noise whe-never possible?

Did you know that 60 % of all occupational illnessesare caused by noise? Even brief peaks exceeding140 dB or prolonged noise exceeding 70 dB(A) can permanently damage one’s hearing.

And that could prove to be expensive! Stati-stics have repeatedly shown: Staff illness ordisability at work costs money. Do not leave ituntil it is too late! Protect your staff and yourcompany. Use secutex impact protection.

4. Long-term effectsecutex offers a high wear and tearresistance

A high cutting resistance ensures extra longlife. In the case of high pressure loading and extreme

flexing, we recommend the useof harder materials.

secutex equipped with fabric orfibre glass reinforcement offers ahigher wear and tear resistancethan secutex without reinforce-ment.

secutex® - easy to work with!

It is just one of the material’s characteristics. As allother PUR products, secutex also experiences a volume reduction of 1-3 % during processing. secutexcastings comply with the tolerances of M3 DIN 7715.Casting elements can be optimised in order to obtainaccurate results. Our CNC-controlled processingmachines also allow an extremely accurate mecha-nical tolerance.

Cutting and sawingWant to cut or saw secutex yourself?Just ensure that blades are extra sharpfor cutting secutex.

A band saw can be used to saw thesecutex material. Due to the excellentabrasion properties, the materialattempts to withstand or evade the cut-ting tool. Ensure a low wedge angle andadapt the cutting speed, where necessary.

ChisellingKnife-like implements as used for woodworking are best suited for this purpose.

Important! The tool angle should be 15°. It isrecommended to use a drilling emulsionfor preparing the surface and cooling.

Drilling/thread cuttingNo special tools are required. Normalwood and metal drills suffice.

Important!Cutting speed approx. 40 m/min.,advance approx. 0.01-0.03 mm/rev. In the case of low shore hardness, secutex can evade the tool. The holecould therefore be up to 5 % smaller.

MillingUse standard milling cutters with a low number ofteeth.

Important! Peripheral speed approx.200-400 m/min, clearance angle α10°, effective cutting angle γ 25°.

It is recommended to use a drilling emul-sion for preparing the surface and cooling.

TurningFor this purpose, standard SS turning chisels can beused (tool angle 12°, β = 53°, γ = 25°).

Important! Cutting speed approx. 300-500 m/min, hardness < 80° Shore A,100-200 m/min, hardness < 90° ShoreA. Advancing speed approx. 0.1-0.2

mm/U. It is recommended to use a dril-ling emulsion for preparing the surface and

cooling.

The harder the secutex material, the better the surfacequality. For finishing, the use of a belt grinder isrecommended.

Grinding/rougheningsecutex can be easily ground with grinding machinesor belt grinders (standard grain size or ceramic bon-

ding).

Important! Grinding speed of approx.30-50 m/sec. Wet grinding is recom-mended. Note: a wire brush can alsobe used for roughening.

isecutex-service: Holes, stepped holes andthreads are already included during pro-duction in accordance with customerrequirements and stipulated exact dimen-sions. Stamping work can also be carriedout.
