BAPTISMS Presenting a child for Baptism is a serious obligation and requires a
faith commitment on the part of the parents and godparents. This
commitment is exemplified by being a practicing, active Catholic.
Parents are obligated to attend a preparation session before a child’s
baptism if they have not attended one in the past five years.
Sessions are held at 12:15 p.m. on second Sundays of January,
March, May, July, September and November, in the Parish Activity
Center. Please call the Parish Office to register. Baptisms are at
12:15 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month.
WEDDINGS Please phone the parish office to set-up an appointment with a
priest, in order to begin the sacramental preparation. Only after this
initial meeting and assessment can a date be set for the wedding.
The process requires at least 6 months.
NEW PARISHIONERS ARE WELCOME Please come to the parish office to register. If you have a change of
address, phone number or email, please inform the parish office.

TWELTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, JUNE 21, 2020
Gospel Meditation - Encourage Deeper Understanding of Scripture
There are many things of which we can be
afraid: being rebuked, rejection, anger, being
challenged, having to defend ourselves, standing
alone, insecurity, failure, and even death. For some,
identifying and overcoming their fears is a daunting
task. Regardless of how much they may want to
break the cycle of fear, they find that they remain
close friends with old and dysfunctional behavioral
habits and norms. Maybe what they really fear is
change. There are many who gravitate to the
familiar and comfortable, and find safety and
security in doing so, even if they remain mired in
mediocrity. Human beings have to learn that there is
life beyond the “what has always been” and that
happiness and depth are possible when old
structures and systems have to be left behind.
Can you leave the near and dear, the
comfortable and familiar, the safe and secure, and
discover new opportunities? The shear thought of
doing so can bring on feelings of apprehension,
intense anger, resentment, defensiveness,
reluctance, resistance, and even apathy. If we have
to be responsible for making the change, cowardice
can creep in. If someone else is to blame for making
the change, any number of possible negative
reactions are possible. In the end, only one thing is
required and that is God. If I can rely on and deepen
my relationship with God, especially in the
Eucharist along with a community of believers, then
little else is of great concern. We have to figure out
what is really important. It is not always what we
think.
The Gospel calls us to stretch ourselves and
try new things, not to remain stuck and stagnant in
familiar ways. We are asked to live life more
deliberately, radically, and intentionally. We are
asked to leave the familiar behind and learn to live
with changing, and often limiting, human structures.
We cannot get too caught up in the physical,
ideological, or structural systems we are used to. The
Holy Spirit always leads and guides us. If we trust
this, we will find ourselves doing things we never
thought we could do. Always seek the path to joy and
love. They keep us from falling victim to our fears
and from seeking the nostalgic crutches we think we
need to achieve a sense of well-being and happiness.

Prize Parade Raffle Updates Prize Parade tickets may be purchased at
the parish office during normal business hours 9-
12, 1-7 Monday through Thursday and 9-12, 1-5 on
Fridays. Tickets may also be bought after
weekend Masses in front of church.
If you would be interested in sitting on the
porch of the parish office during the week to sell
Prize Parade tickets please call Lisa Schott at 419-
234-5748.
This year more than ever we need ticket
sellers. If you can stop at the parish office and sign
out tickets and sell them to friends and family, we
would appreciate it very much.
Scrip News
Scrip cards are now being sold at the parish
office during office hours: 9-12, 1-5 Monday through
Friday. For those who are not comfortable going into
places yet, you may order gift cards to be mailed to
you. Just fill out an order form, enclose your
payment, and put it in the mail slot at the parish
office. The cards you order will then be mailed to you,
so make sure you have the correct mailing address
on your check or a note with your address on it, and
specify that you want them sent.
Now that weekend Masses have resumed, we
will also have your orders available for pick up
outside the main entrances of Church beginning
June 20. You may either put your order in the parish
office mail slot, order online, or call the parish office
with your order. ALL drop-off orders MUST BE
PREPAID, but if you call in an order, you’ll have to
pay after Mass when picking up the cards. In order
to observe social distancing and minimize contact,
your cards will be in an envelope with your name on
it and the amount if it is not prepaid. A Scrip
representative will be there to oversee things, but
gift cards will not be sold then.
Thank you so much for supporting this
program especially in these trying times. We
appreciate all those who ordered online and the
Kroger shoppers who kept shopping even when the
school and parish office were closed.
The Scrip Program contributed $15,000 to IC
School in 2019, and has already contributed $5,000
in 2020, so keep up the good work!
Legacies and bequests help continue the
faith. Please remember Immaculate Conception
Parish in your will and expressions of sympathy.
