Teen Services Updates in August

To ensure accuracy, we update the teen services list each year. If you would like to remain on the list, you must email Colorado Lasertype at [email protected] by August 15th or your name will be deleted. Please leave the following information: your name; age; what category you want: (B) Babysitting, (L) Lawn Care, (S) Snow Removal, and (P) Pet & House Sitting; whether or not you are Red Cross certified for CPR; and neighborhood you live in (this is very important – we publish 36 different news-letters and need to know which one your name is in). If you have renewed your information after May 1st of this year, you do not need to email us to update. Thank you.

Dead Trees Many trees, shrubs and bushes in the community suffered damage last November when summer like temperatures plummeted to near artic levels in just one day. As Fall looms on the horizon, it would be wise to examine these trees for any new growth and determine if they will survive or should they be removed. Bring in a tree expert if necessary. Large dead trees are not only unsightly but also pose safety risks and potential damage to your home as well as your neighbor’s home should dead branches break and fall. Thank you!

Wine and Cheese Social The second annual Wine and Cheese Meet and Greet is scheduled for September 12th, starting at 5 pm. This new event proved quite popular last year as the Board looked to provide an event to fill the gap between summer and winter events, with a nod to a more grown-up centered activity. The HOA Board will provide cheeses and some light snacks. Bring your own bottle of vino to share. If you have a favorite light appetizer or snack, feel free to bring it along. Tables and canopies will be set up in the cul-de-sac of 7100 S. Moore Court. Though this gathering is geared to the adults, children are welcome as well, but keep in mind there won’t be any formal activities or kid friendly refreshments provided. Come on out and visit with neighbors new and old.

Teen Services Please renew your information and send to Colorado Lasertype or your name will be deleted. A friendly reminder as well, that if you have your name listed under teen services, please be courteous and promptly return phone calls from homeowners inter-ested in utilizing your area of service. It’s frustrating when phone calls and voicemails are left at the number provided and there is no response. On the flip side, homeowners should be aware as well that these teens are not “on-call” and may not immediately return your call the same day. Specifically, lawn mowing and snow removal are not likely to receive same day response. Please be considerate. Thank you!

CoHope The HOA Board would like to see some-one step up and volunteer. The purpose of CoHope includes providing a forum for HOAs to meet, discuss common issues and keep up on legislation affecting HOAs. CoHope hosts meet and greets with political candidates in conjunction with their summer meeting. There is a core group of 15 members who have met for 20-25 years. Meetings are once a month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sheriff’s substation off of Bradford. For more informa-tion, please contact a Board member.

Group Efforts Our neighborhood continues to look better every year. Residents who are staying are updating landscaping, adding ponds, and creating beautiful lawns and gardens. Houses that go on the market are usually selling within a few days. I’ve only seen one house sit vacant for an extended period of time and that was due to foreclosure issues. Neighbors on that street pitched in to keep the lawn mowed and trash picked up. The front entrance, bulletin board area, and North pond benches continue to look neat and tidy. Volunteers have pitched-in each time a request went out. Scheduling was difficult and erratic because of the weather this Spring. Thanks to each of you, and to those who took the time to go back on their own, to weed and garden when they noticed some extra effort was needed. Also thanks to the group who helped reclaim some of Eagle Meadows Park at the gazebo area. Again, in spite of rain and rescheduling! Brian Mess, Steve and Larissa Carroll, George and Sue Jackson and my husband Mike did a great job. We’ve seen so many people stop to admire the view, watch the geese, and relax at the picnic table. Foothills started the clean up, and should be back this Fall to cut the Russian Olives. Group effort has made all of these things happen. Each project made a positive impact on our neighborhood. And I learned a few things along the way. Mother Nature still has a mind of her own and laughs at my scheduling. The family of geese near the gazebo loved to watch us work. There are still crawdads at the pond. Nothing can kill willow bushes. Where there is underbrush, there will be snakes (garter variety)! But the best thing I learned was that people in our neighborhood are always willing to help. Hope to see all of you again, and more new faces too, as we continue to take pride in our neighborhood. To help the Common Areas Committee and all volunteers plan their calendars, here’s the schedule. Someone tell Mother Nature to be nice. GROUP WORK DAYS, 3pm, Last Sundays in August, September and October. August 30, September 27, October 25. Meet at the front entrance. General clean-up and maintenance. No experience necessary! We pick up trash and downed branches, rake, sweep, pull weeds. Leaf raking in October. Can you meet us for an hour? Special projects will be posted as needed. If anyone is interested in helping with the gazebo area once a month, please give me a call. We have a donated mower, and can always use more people to weed whack, and clean-up the area.
