The University of

Kentucky is known for its

rabid fan base. While

Commonwealth

Stadium, the home of its

football team, is rebuilt,

the athletics department

needed a temporary

structure for student

ticket sales and will-

calls.

It turned to Ikoniq, the

NY-based designer and

manufacturer of carts,

kiosks, trailers and other

high-durability, utilitarian

portables.

UK Associate Athletic

Director Joe Sharpe

worked with Ikoniq to

determine a custom

trailer as the solution to

their needs.

The glossy black paint

provides a rich

background for the bold

UK lettering.

Sharpe wanted a trailer

as opposed to other

solutions, i.e. a

repurposed shipping

container, because of

the greater portability.

As stadium construction

evolves, and as the

trailer is put to use for

other needs after

completion, it was

important to have a

hitch-and-go flexibility.

Portability

The design

accommodates piping in

both electricity and data,

allowing UK personnel

inside the trailer to

provide the same

services usually

available inside more

permanent solutions.

High-impact safety glass

helps protect the trailer,

while keeping occupants

comfortable. The feature

also provides security,

which is of utmost

importance since cash is

exchanged for tickets.

Transactions are carried

out via small portals,

a.k.a. “mouse holes,” in

the glass.

Enclosure

The ticket trailer can

comfortably

accommodate four

personnel, along with

two supervisors, and still

provide ample room for

moving around.

The unit came with built-

in ventilation and an

HVAC unit, strong

enough to control the

inside temperature

during the hottest or

coldest of game days.

A bank of low-energy

fluorescent lights

increases the utility of

the trailer.

Sharpe shows how easy

it is to lower the security

panels with the hydraulic

rods. In addition to

thwarting mischief, the

panels provide great

space for additional

branding.

While raised, they also

provide covering against

rain, snow and sun for

fans conducting their

transactions.
