    ABSTRACT:

    This paper throws light on the essentials of corporate social responsibility (CSR), also

    known as corporate conscience; corporate citizenship, responsible business, sustainable

    responsible business (SRB), or corporate social performance, and above all how well it should be

    implemented for the benefit of the society in the organization. As a matter of fact, CSR is a form

    of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR is all about how companies

    manage the business processes to produce an overall positive impact on society. Profits are

    necessary for any organization to exist, while recognizing this aspect all groups in society is

    striving to add value and make life better. Businesses rely on the society within which they

    operate and they could not exist or prosper in isolation (without the society).Society relies on

    value based things produced by the companies, which in turn need the infrastructure that the

    society provides, its source of employees, not to mention its consumer base. CSR adds value

    because it allows companies to better reflect the values of this important ingredient base that the

    company aims to serve. CSR covers all aspects of business from day to day operations. Whether

    as an employer, producer, buyer, supplier, or investment, the attractiveness and success of any

    company today is directly linked to the strength of its brand. CSR is an argument of economic

    self-interest for a business. In todays branddriven markets, CSR means matching corporate

    operations with the stakeholders values and demands at a time when these parameters can

    change rapidly. One example is a companys customers: CSR adds value because it allows

    companies to better reflect the values of this important constituent base that the company aims to

    serve. CSR covers all aspects of business day to day operations. Whether as an employer,

    producer, buyer, supplier, or investment, the attractiveness and success of a company today is

    directly linked to the strength of its brand.

    ABSTRACT:

    Phonetic matching plays an important role in multilingual information retrieval, where data is

    manipulated in multiple languages and user need information in their native language which may

    be different from the language where data has been maintained. In such an environment, we need

    a system which matches the strings phonetically in any case. Once strings match, we can retrieve

    the information irrespective of languages. In this paper, we proposed an approach which matches

    the strings either in Hindi or Marathi or in cross-language in order to retrieve information. We

    compared our proposed method with soundex and Q-gram methods. We found better results as

    compared to these approaches.

    Abstract:

    Work-integrated learning (WIL) programs are becoming popular with students, government,

    employers, and universities. A major benefit of a WIL program is the increased employability of

    students, and this matches well with the present trend whereby students expect a pay-off from

    their investment in education. Curriculum is one of the important products that universities offer

    to their stakeholders, but the curriculum has received less attention than might be expected. This

    paper discusses issues related to designing a WIL program for a post-graduate degree program.

    The importance of WIL programs in general is followed by discussion on how WIL, work and

    knowledge are related to each other. Issues relating to designing a successful WIL program are

    discussed by its faculty, academics and the employers as stakeholders in the program. The WIL

    programs implications for the post-graduate curriculum are also discussed.

    Abstract:

    The paper reviews the state of education management for Advancing Rural India. Using the

    setting up of some specialized Institutes of Rural Management Education as a pivot, the paper

    examines the difficulties in establishing specialized management schools, the design of the

    curriculum and the management of the expectations of both the students who come in and the

    recruiters. It then identifies the problems in running rural management programmes particularly

    the dilemma between explicit value orientation towards the betterment of the poor and the value

    neutral optimization approach of conventional management education.

    The paper then examines the paradigm shift that has happened in the marketplace for rural

    managers, and concludes with some further questions on how the future of rural management

    education can be addressed. If we want to be a developed country, we have to look deeper intothe strategic approach of education advancement in rural area also.

    Abstract:

    Most small to mediumsized clinics and hospitals in Indore do not have on-site treatment

    facilities for their medicals and infectious wastes and must rely on outside agencies for its

    collection and treatment. In this paper the problem of optimally planning and scheduling the

    collection of medical wastes from a disperse group of facilities is formulated as a PVRP. Special

    attention is given to the requirement that waste pickup be made on at least a weekly basis.

    Optimization model consist of two phase: first phase solves a standard VRP to determine the set

    of individual routes for the collection vehicles by SFCOP (space filling curve with optimal

    partitioning) approach. Whereas second phase assigns routes to particular days of the week by

    mixed-integer programming. Also an illustrative example demonstrates the effectiveness of the

    approach.

    Abstract:

    Automobile Industry in India is influenced by the presence of national and multi-national

    manufacturers. The presence of many manufacturers and brands in the state provides many

    choices to the customer. These manufacturers offer similar value proposition, making the

    passenger car segment being highly commoditized. Customers no longer consider engine

    performance, as a major factor, as it is expected to be a standard already in place. They look for

    those differentiating parameters, which can make the choice from one brand to another. The

    main purpose of this paper is to come up with the identification of possible parameters that

    influence the consumer purchase behaviour patterns of passenger car owners in the State of

    Kerala. It is also aimed to develop a theoretical model, which influence the consumer purchase

    patterns of passenger cars, so that further research could be done, based on the model and the

    identified parameters.

    The Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) provides that security prices reflect all available

    information.T he market price of a security is its price on the Stock Exchange s trading market.

    The speed with which the market reacts to new knowledge about the company is a measure of

    the efficiency of its pricing process. This process is likely to be enhanced if market participants

    have unimpeded and costless access to all relevant information about the company s prospects

    and if high transaction costs do not constitute barriers to trading on the stock exchange.

    The purpose of the study was to ascertain whether there was an instantaneous reaction of the

    companies share prices to dividend announcement in order to provide the basis for confirming

    or dispelling the EMH conclusions as far as the National Stock Exchange was concerned The

    event study methodology was used to achieve the research objective. Additionally T- Test was

    employed in testing the null hypothesis. The major finding was that the NSE was a semi-strong

    efficient market resulting in the conclusion that the time of announcement can be used for the

    making easy money but is very rare to find that on which date company will announce the

    dividend and if investor are able to predict this than in that case easy money can be made with

    the help of that information.

    Abstract:

    Various research reports claim India to be on the brink of economic revolution ignoring the fact

    the majority of Indias population is in the clutches of smoke form tobacco like beedi and

    cigarette. This addiction is paralyzing todays youth who have to carry forward the nation

    making the dream of a developed country a distant dream.

    The focus for the production and consumption of tobacco has shifted to the developing

    countries, like India. This tobacco, though a source of revenue in millions for the government,

    bears the responsibility of spreading dangerous diseases like cancer, heart stroke, blood pressure,

    poor immune system etc. In todays fast moving stressful life, most resort to quick and harmful

    substitutes to relieve themselves temporarily leading to addictions. Many get addicted followingthe crowd in an attempt to be fashionable and portray a cool image in the society.

    The purpose of the present paper is to provide a more comprehensive statistical analysis

    of tobacco usage in smoke form and the factors affecting this.

    Abstract:

    A Depository is an organization where the securities of share holders are held in the electronic

    format the request of the share holder through the medium of a depository participant.

    In September, 1995 the Government have accepted in principle the proposed law for

    settling up of depositories and of a central depository for immobilization of physical certificates.

    The central depository is to be set up as trust to hold the physical custody of shared and effect

    transfers by book entries without the need to deal and transfer the physical certificates between

    parties. This is to be sponsored by public financial institutions and banks and will have a

    minimum net worth of Rs. 50-100 crores as proposed by the SEBI. This central depository can

    be connected to a number of share depositories for effecting transfer in book entries. The Foreign

    financial institutions agencies, NRIs and OCBs have for long required the depository of thistype for facilitating their trade in the Indian stock markets. These foreign security firms who

    were linced by the SEBI are operating in India, but physical custody of the Indian securities has

    to be handled by Indian custodian such as a bank which taken converted into depository

    participants. The guidelines and regulations in aspect of the operations of depository participants

    will help smooth operations among participants and their operations with the central depository.

    A national securities depository corporation was set up in November, 1996.

    The Central Depository system aims at immobilization of physical certificates. This isdone by means of book entries with central depository who keeps custody of all physical

    certificates as a first step. As a next step, new issues will be made as book entries only and not as

    physical certificates. Book entries transfers will lead to quicker transfers and at lower costs. It

    meets the increasing work load of investment activity and dealings to increasing volume of

    transfer work.
