President’s Message By Kristina Massaconi

IIA Webinars

Take a break from shoveling snow to enjoy one of the Albany Chapter's upcoming programs. In February, we'll co-sponsor the annual certification breakfast. This is a great opportunity to get helpful information about obtain-ing a certification from chapter members who know the ins and outs of each certification.

In March, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the annu-al “Conference That Counts” (TCTC) - don't miss out on this exciting event! This year’s conference is scheduled for March 16, 17, and 18 at the Hol-iday Inn on Wolf Rd. Over the course of three days, the Albany Chapters of the IIA, AGA, and ISACA will provide interesting, exciting, and thought-provoking training sessions from some of our most favorite pre-senters over the past 20 years. In addition, TCTC is an excellent learning and networking oppor-

tunity for financial managers, au-ditors, and accountability profes-sionals.

Hope to see you at our training events or board meetings!

Hot Topics in IT Risk Manage-ment February 5, 2015 2:00 – 3:00 PM

At their core, financial institu-tions are technology businesses, the success of which hinges on the ability to manage opportuni-ties and threats on each side of the risk coin. But banks face a

pressing risk management prob-lem: Most of their technology risk frameworks are decidedly one-sided, with more of a focus – perhaps not surprisingly – on technology rather than the busi-ness it supports.

In this webinar, we will define the nature of the technology risk management challenges for all parties involved:

CIOs and other IT Executives, CROs and operational risk exec-utives; and Internal Audit.

We will also highlight a four-level mapping process that integrates technology risk management with business risk management.

Topics will include:

IT Risk Management: Main challenges and creating trans-

parency and understandable links between technology risks and business objectives

The four-level pay-off: More control, fewer controls

Benefits of IT and Business Risk alignment

The role of IT Audit

This program provides minimum standards of performance for providing service to our Chapter members, providing service to the internal auditing pro-fession and for administering the activities of the Chapter. The Pro-gram emphasizes the basic mission of the Chapter, encourages Chap-ters to perform that mission, and provides Chapters with a means to evaluate their success in accomplishing that mission.
