General Reflections

Implementation

Get to the what? and why?

Wondering if the “how” paralyses the what and the why

Cluster C -- #4

Area of focus:

#4. Strengthen the use of data and outcomes assessment results to inform planning and resource allocation decisions

• Success in embedding course outcome assessment in the culture and viewing outcomes as something worth discussing

• Culture of outcomes assessment is challenged by systems that make it difficult for data analysis to translate into action at all levels

• Prioritize simplification of data entry to alleviate frustration and put emphasis on data analysis and planning.

• Better definition of LOAC responsibilities and authority

Cluster C -- #4

Area of focus:

#4. Strengthen the use of data and outcomes assessment results to inform planning and resource allocation decisions

• Celebratory review of programs that have used outcomes assessment to implement change

• Simplify/clarify steps for outcomes review and revision.

• Simplify how programs report their assessment procedures/results into one tool from which information can be extracted efficiently.

• Create clearer expectations regarding what kinds of planning/resource allocation emanates from outcomes assessment

• Emphasize quality of research rather than quantity (keeping eye on compliance)
