I. Our Commitment
At I.E.P. Quest Overseas, we are committed to training and developing a generation of
future leaders, who will shape the Peru of the future with inspiration, intelligence and
critical thinking. This commitment is made up of four components:
We train leaders with positive ethical values.
We help our students succeed in life from their immediate surroundings to reaching
long-term goals.
We follow standards and guidelines.
We promote life-long learning.
These four components are expanded upon below:
We train leaders with positive ethical values: We teach our students to get
involved in their local communities, to fight for their rights and respect the rights of
others. In this way, they will later become leaders capable of managing large
social projects.
We help our students become successful in life: Our students learn the necessary
skills and strategies to be successful in the real world, at university, throughout their
time in further education, in their careers and in their family life. Our students
believe in themselves, can think critically, work well collaboratively and are
forward thinking.
We follow international standards: We help our students acquire the knowledge
and skills that will enable them to reach a level of proficiency equal to that of the
best schools in Peru and around the world. With our drive towards academic
excellence, our students are well prepared for secondary education.
We promote life-long learning: Not only do we help our students to learn, we also
teach them how to. Through their educational experience, our students learn to take
responsibility of their own learning and develop the skills, techniques and strategies
to be able to learn independently.

II. PRESENTATION
Mission: To develop skilled and able children, instilled with values; through applying a
specific methodology designed for the child’s profile, with the ultimate goal of contributing
to the development of the country.
Vision: To be an officially recognised educational institution, focused on the learning and
development of skills.
III. PROGRAM IMPACT
Educational model used in the School:
Competency-based Education marks a change from various educational models, as it
promotes an education focused on the student. This requires a change in teaching practice
in relation to the preparation, lesson delivery and evaluation methods. The teacher is a
conduit contributing to the development of skills in students.
In this context, the student takes responsibility of their own educational process and as such
acts in a way as to respond to his/her own personal needs, characterised by individual
differentiating factors.

La Vida: funding for small projects
As well as funding 47 fully-sponsored places, La Vida has also supported us with funds to improve
the quality of education at the school. Thereby helping us maintain an appropriate and friendly
environment, one in which the children can learn comfortably and in harmony. Thanks to this support,
we have managed to acquire, introduce and maintain equipment and other pedagogical materials.

VI. Management and official documentation
It is a great achievement to now have an operating licence for I.E.P. Quest Overseas. The
Mayor of the District Villa María del Triunfo, Dr Silvia Barrera conferred to us the Definitive
Operating Licence to the Manager of the School Mr. Alejandro Menéndez, Head of
Asociación Quest Overseas Perú and representative of Quest Overseas England. Mrs.
Martha Ortiz, the School’s Academic Coordinator was also present. This document was
conferred to us thanks to the merit and the high standard of the ongoing work that the
institution provides to children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the area of Villa María
and also thanks to the support from Quest Overseas in developing activities in the
community throughout the year.
This document means that we are now formally registered, it is an important and necessary
step in receiving subsidies and grants so that the school may expand, develop and become
more competitive, which will enable us to confront the national and international markets
successfully. We obtained the operating licence thanks to the Framework Law on
Operating Licences N° 28976 passed in February 2007, which standardised this process
in every municipality in the country.

VII. STRATEGIES IN PLACE TO REDUCE SCHOOL DROP-OUT
RATES IN 2014
In 2013 we saw a rise in the number of pupils not attending school throughout the year.
This was due to a number of factors: health, dysfunctional families, family problems,
helping with domestic chores etc. Measures were taken to resolve and prevent children
dropping out of school, and this topic was directly discussed with the parents, working with
them and guardians of the children, who were committed to resolve the issues causing the
children not to attend school. Due to these measures we had no school dropouts this year
and managed to avoid children falling behind in certain subjects.
In 2014 an ongoing training and monitoring scheme was started with the parents. Children
were encouraged to attend school and to be punctual through creative incentives.
Responsibilities were also assigned to children who missed class, thereby engaging,
encouraging and teaching them discipline.
