“WHO AM I” POETRY CONTEST: 3-6 GRADE 1ST PLACE WINNER:

Who Am I? by Sadie Kennedy Jaffe, 6th grade

I am meI am I

I am easy to mortifyI am me I am I

I don’t usually qualifyFor scholarships,

Contests and races, Because everyone looks at me

with such uptight facesIn school,

I am average, A real ‘middle’ kid

My grades are decent;I guess I should be proud of how I did

My after-school activities, Art, Gym, and Girl Scouts,

Where when anything happens,Everyone shouts

When I’m with my friendsWe play video games and cook,

But their avatars always look like crooks.

I wish I could sleep every day until half past 9Plus, some of my clothes aren’t even mine

They used to belong to my sisterNot very stylish right nowAnd I want to play Twister

But we can’t anymoreBecause she is at college

And my parents aren’t as young as they used to beNo offense, Mom and Dad

But I don’t really get acknowledgedAnd I barely see my sisterAnd I barely see myself

Because people barely see my personalityAnd I barely see myself

This year’s Poetry Contest theme was “Who Am I?” You can find the second and third place winners as well as our honorable mentions on our website. Enjoy!
