Based on open, standards-basedtechnology, WebSphere PaymentManager supports multiple paymentprotocols, including: SET SecureElectronic Transaction™ Protocol, anindustry-standard transport and mess-aging protocol that uses encryptedcertificates for more secure paymentprocessing; and Merchant Initiated SET(MIS), a SET extension that can be usedby merchants to accept credit cardinformation from consumers using anymethod other than SET.

With Payment Manager, transactions aresent through your system privately, andthen to the bank for approval. Usingtransaction tables in the WebSphereCommerce Suite database, PaymentManager maintains information about thestatus of transactions, authorizationrequests and capture requests—facilitating event notification andtransaction reconciliation. And because itcan confirm customer identities usingSET, customer fraud is minimized. If you’rea hosting service provider, PaymentManager offers unique market opportuni-ties to extend payment capabilities withinyour existing business, as well as to retainand grow your merchant base.

Web site administrators caneasily manage a storeSpecialized administrator tools, accessedfrom a Web browser, make the day-to-day tasks of running a site or store easy.Using the administration interface,you can control security through user IDand password protection or X.509certificate-based authentication; youcan also monitor buyer behavior to helpplan future enhancements to your site.Administration capability is availablethrough two interfaces—site managerand store manager.

Site managerWeb site administrators can use thesite manager—a collection of tools andeasy-to-use online forms—to defineand manage functions related to Internetmalls. With these tools, you can assignheaders, footers and home pages; define

categories for stores within a mall; openor close stores; and define whichshopping processes should be the samefor all stores. The site manager can alsobe used to assign macros or overridablefunctions to customize shoppingprocesses.

Store managerThe store manager contains online formsused to set up interactive catalogs forstores. You can use the store manager tocreate and manage product categories;create buyer groups and assign buyers togroups; and customize pages so thatdisplays are tailored to different groups.

Powerful catalog tools canboost productivityIBM WebSphere Catalog Architect helpsstreamline import or creation—andmanagement—of product information.Catalog Architect enables you to buildrich product information with detailedattributes and relationship information forcatalogs.
