Take care with electrical and hydro-pneumatic connections.

To prevent stretching, cut the air and water tubes with a little extra length in “T” type connections. Also cut the light cable with extra length to avoid stretching.

Due to the lamp’s high consumption (17V / 5.2A), in order to avoid heating at terminals, insert the wire insulators all the way down and screw the wires firmly onto the terminal provided. Do not leave exposed copper wire outside the terminal

6.12.- Water Unit Connections

Upon first start-up: carry out a thorough clean of the water channels by passing a solution of water and disinfectant through all water pipes connected to the instruments and water unit.

OPENING OF 9015085 CONTROL PANEL, WATER UNITAs shown in Figure 22, remove the cover (“1”) protecting the 9015085 water unit control panel by unfastening the screws (“2”, 4 x DIN912-M4-6).

In the case of Cattani aspiration systems, you will also find an interconnected auxiliary control board (the same goes for gravity-drained or continuous aspiration systems).

CUP AND GLASS WATER CONNECTIONFrom the water input, ¼ green tube (“1”) connect it to the distributor (“2”) from the supporting arm, thus providing water to the cup and glass tubes.

This tube carries water for the timed glass and basin water functions. It also carries rinsing water, should the system be fitted with a Cattani aspiration system.

CONNECTING POWER AND SIGNAL WIRESCouple the 24Vac power signal connector (“7”) and auxiliary contact control and aspiration relay onto CN4 (“8”) on the water panel (9015085), and the movements signal connector (“5”) from the chair onto CN7 (“6”).As for the signal connector from the main keypad (“3”), connect it to connector CN6 (“4”).Use supports “9” to fix wires using clamps.Make the faston interconnection for cannulas’ safety (“10” and “11”).

In view of the weight of the wires, leave enough slack to be able to wind them round the water unit and also avoid forcing connector terminals Fit them onto the special supports with clamp (“9”), type UNEX 2247. Make sure the clamps grip the two hoses firmly. For safety reasons, it is advisable to use a second clamp as without this all the weight falls on just one clamp, which if broken would pull the hoses and connectors risking possible electrical damage.

REPLACING WATER UNIT CONTROL PANEL COVERPlace the water unit control board cover (“1”) in its original position, securing it with allen screws (“2”, 4 x DIN912-M 4x6).After carrying out any procedures inside the water unit, always replace the side protection covers.

SECURING SUPPORTING ARM CONNECTIONS, TUBES AND HOSESSecure the support arm tubes and hoses with the cover and the three following clamps: - “1”, support plate, secure with allen screws (“2”, 4 x DIN912-M4x10). - “3”, clamps, secure with allen screws (“4”, 2 x DIN912-M4x10).

Take care not to kink hydro-pneumatic tubes and electric hoses. Be sure to leave tubes with a little play; for this reason, they are designed with extra interior space. Check that the light connection is not pulling; that is, that it is not being stretched and that the copper is properly inserted into the terminals. Check that the rotation of the water unit does not cause kinking or stretching

8. MOVEMENT SAFETY - The dental chair includes mechanical safety stops for the chair and backrest, ensuring correct manoeuvering

and positioning. - Motor overload control through integrated heat sensors. Should the heat sensors go off, wait 15 minutes for them

to cool. - The backrest safety, in the event of pressure or knocks against other objects during manual or automatic recline,

suspends all chair movement (seat and backrest) after first raising it a few centimeters. - The base safety feature, in the event of pressure or knocks against other objects during manual or automatic

recline, suspends all chair movement (seat and backrest), before raising it a few centimeters. - The cannula safety feature, in the event of any pressure against the arm, or knocking against other objects during

manual or automatic recline, suspends all chair movement (seat and backrest). - The control pedal safety blocks all chair movements of the chair (seat and backrest) once the control lever is

activated, allowing the user to work in the patient’s oral cavity in complete safety. If the chair is moving, it can also be stopped by activating the pedal lever.

- The control pedal safety disables all automatic movements, preventing any inadvertent movement due to the sensitivity of the three-way directional button.

- Safety on keypads (main and auxiliary) and pedal such that the chair executes a memorised movement. When any movement key is pressed the unit stops.

- Instrument safety; if one of the instruments is active, the chair will not move if any chair movement function – manual or automatic – is pressed.

- Fast blow fuse protection for lifting motor and chair motor units, F6.3A/250V. - Fast blow fuse protection for electronic chair control, T 32 mA/250V. - Double protection in pimary transformer: with slow blow fuse TT 2.5A/250V (built into circuit box) and resettable

thermal protection fuse built into transformer coil (at 130°C, protection type B). - Protection against overload and short circuits in the 17Vac secondaries line and 24Vac transformer line via

polyswitches (built-in thermostat).

11. TECHNICAL NOTES AND ELECTRONIC PANELS

GENERAL HIDROPNEUMATIC DIAGRAM (REF. 9116386)

3 INSTRUMENTS (MICROMOTOR WITHOUT LIGHT, TURBINE WITHOUT LIGHT, SYRINGE 3F) (REF. 9116387)

5 INSTRUMENTS (TWO MICROMOTORS WITH LIGHT, TURBINE WITH LIGHT, ULTRASOUND AND SYRINGE 3F) (REF. 9116442)Other instrument combinations can be realised starting from the basic configuration provided. The system has two general intakes, one water and one air. The taps are located in the chair base. Each line has a pressure gauge and a pressure regulator, displaying on Psi and kPa scales. For the dental unit, the intake water adjustment will be 3 bar equivalent to 300 kPa and the intake air pressure will be 5.5 bar equivalent to 550 Kpa.

GENERAL WATER AND AIR SWITCHOne general water and air switch underneath the colibri via the YL 1/8” and OR 1/8” circuit will start the hydro-pneumatic system. This circuit goes through the intermediate connector underneath the water unit supporting arm In the ON position, this gives (line) air pressure to the distributor located in the instrument tray and opens the general air and water valves located in the shut-off valve.

The (line) air pressure that reaches the distributor goes on to the general block via the valve in the instruments support that are initially idle. This is necessary to block the functioning of any air instrument without authorisation from the instrument. This action is realised by pressing against each instrument’s specific membrane. This (line) air from the distributor, instruments and general block is identified by BL 1/8” tubes. From the air regulator, outlet CL ¼”, it branches into 2 lines: 1 direct RD 1/8” circuit line for syringe air (this first goes through a regulator). Another air line towards the CL ¼” proportional regulation pedal.

The pedal has 3 outputs: - BL 1/8”, air chip, which connects to a one-way “T”. - CL 1/8”, signal for instrument water. - CL 1/4”, regulation of air for instruments and movements safety using electro-pneumatic micro (9020118). The pedal also has: - Chip blower air button - Signal button for executing the spray function (spraying of water and air).Distributor: Instrument supporting element that distributes water and air.

Inputs: - Regulation of CL ¼” pedal air. - Air of ON/OFF switch and for locking OR 1/8” instruments with air regulation. - Air for GN 1/8” instruments.

Outputs: - Regulation air to the general block (CL ¼”), only for use of turbine and micro motor in air only mode. - Regulation air for the spray function. This goes through the valve code…. 9020156 governed by the pedal’s

water push-button. This air goes through a check valve and fills the reserve tank (CL 1/8”) Finally it is channelled to the one-way “T” code 9020142.

- Water with external regulators for GN 1/8” instruments (x4 lines basic diagram). - Direct water to syringe 3F or 6F (with regulator). - Air to instrument selection valve BL 1/8” (x4 lines basic diagram). - Instrument selection.

General Block: Elements actuating on pneumatic valves and instruments:Top inputs: - From CL ¼” air distributor, regulation air for micromotor and turbine operation in air only mode. - Regulation air, through the one-way “T” (BL_1/8”), which channels: air chips (puffs), tank air (expel last drop of

water), air spray (for spraying function: water + air). - Water signal for execution of spray from CL 1/8” pedal.

Page 42: I SO 9001 I O13485 - ancar-files.com

INSTALLATION MANUALDENTAL UNIT - QS4-372-01 / SD 175

38

Instrument group inputs (4 groups): - Of instrument selection valve, BL 1/8”, instrument authorisation. Instrument group outputs (4 groups): - Water valves and instruments open signal, instruments (x4) for water output. - Instruments air chip (x4) - Instruments air regulation (x4).

NOTE: The spray function will only occur when the pedal push-button for this function is in the right position. The water signal pedal.

Chair movements safetyConnection on the air regulation line of micro NC, which blocks the movements function by converting the ON/OFF pneumatic conversion signal into an electrical signal. This micro’s electrical contacts connect to movements panel 9015086, connector S1. If you remove the connector contacts, the chair will be blocked.

Air TankTank of air to clean general block after use of tray regulation instruments. Cleans down to the last drop of water from the instrument. For the instrument connection shown 2 electronic panels are necessary: Electric micromotor 9015094 and light regulation panel 9015032, supplying power at 24 Vca. A distribution to the 2 panels will be made from the main 24Vca input.

NOTE: Light regulation panel 9015032 can be used for max. 3 instruments with light for 3.5 and 7-volt bulbs.

ELECTRIC MICROMOTOR (WITHOUT LIGHT)An electro-pneumatic micro is actuated across the general block’s cooling air outlet and is used to execute the ON/OFF of the MC3-type (5.5A) electric micromotor. Operation: -1) When the instrument is unhooked, it authorises the instrument. In idle, the pressure on the general block

does not permit the instrument to function. When the instrument is unhooked, the pressure falls authorising micromotor operation.

-2) Regulation air outlet. When the instrument output has pressure (general block), it closes the micro NA safety’s electrical contact (normally open), connecting the 24Vca micromotor panel.

The pedal’s regulation air is the means for controlling the instrument start up and also for blocking chair movements.

The micromotor also has an external contact for reversing the direction of rotation. Before executing the reversal, release the regulation pedal. The connection of the micromotor with light, at the hydropneumatic level, is identical to that of a micromotor without light. The operation authorisation is also identical. This authorisation is used internally to turn on the light. Micromotor panel 9015094 sends the control signal to light regulation panel 9015032. The micromotor (light and motor) is integrally connected to panel 9015094. See electrical diagrams.

Only one contact is necessary for the micromotor with light

Electrical supplyTo supply micromotor 24Vca electronic panel 9015094 (1-2). This power supply comes from connections panel 9015093. It is better to observe the electrical connection on the electrical diagrams. Instrument selection valve signal: 9015094 (3-4). Reversal of micromotor 9015094 (5-6).

NOTE: The general block outlets and distributor are left prepared for the connection of the components necessary to take more instruments.

39

Turbine with lightThe turbine with light, at hydro-pneumatic level includes a water regulator, water valve and control elements: pneumatic-electrical converters and activation micros for converting pneumatic signal to electrical signal. Thus it is necessary to connect the electrical contacts of 2 micros in series to authorise turbine light operation: -1) From the electrical micro, whose electrical contact is normally closed NC (without pressure). In idle, the air

input pressure opens the contact, not authorising the instrument. When the instrument is working and the instrument is unhooked, the pressure falls and closes the electrical

contact. The instrument selection valve authorises operating of the turbine with light. -2) Main Air line. Micro with the contact normally open NA (without pressure). Once the hydro-pneumatic switch

is open, there is still pressure in the line closing this electro-pneumatic micro. In this way with the two micros closed when the instrument is unhooked the lantern effect is obtained, i.e. the ability to illuminate the patient’s mouth cavity without actuating the pedal.

Pneumatic micromotor Connecting a pneumatic micromotor is similar to connecting a turbine without light. I.e., it is only necessary to add the valve for the water, water regulator, electro-pneumatic selection switch and to make the necessary input/output connections to the general bock and distributor.

ULTRASOUND: Any dental unit configuration with ultrasound will require connection of the original 24 Vca panel (in function of the model), one valve for connecting the water and activation by means of the instrument selection valve. The reference diagram is for a SATELEC system. For EMS, MECTRON ultrasound, see the electrical diagrams. Two contacts in series are required: 1) Instrument selection electro-pneumatic micro contact (in working mode, without air pressure, normally closed). 2) Pedal contact (air regulation). This contact provides us with control by means of the pedal. Contact normally

open, only opens when it has air pressure. - See electrical diagrams.

NOTE: Chair movements are completely blocked while the pedal is being actuated. -The ultrasound electro-valve output is not used. The pneumatic valve is used via the general block.

DENTAL UNIT MOVEMENTS Incorporates manual and automatic movements by means of a system controlled by microprocessor. Memorisation and positioning are realised by means of a step counter using a Hall effect sensor. Other memorised movements are the spittoon return and the reset. The movements electronics, panel 9015086, incorporates electrical noise suppression measures.

DENTAL UNIT INSTRUMENTS The 230V line leaves from the connector located in the chair base, this line connecting to connections panel 9015093 to supply the water unit electronics, lamp and electronic instruments. In diagramatic form, onto panel 9015085 are clamped: - 9015085, water unit panel. Is directly connected with: - 9015082, main keypad and 9015081, auxiliary keypad. - 9015044, panel for CATTANI 24Vca line systems. DENTAL UNIT POWER SUPPLIESWith a toroid transformer (with built-in thermal protection [resettable in 15 min.] against overload and short circuit in the primary, 130ºC), power 260W, located in the chair base, we obtain: - 17Vca / 95W (max.) for lamp. - 24Vca / 25W (max.) for Water unit. - 24Vca / 125W (max.) for Instruments. The secondary lines are protected against overloading and short circuit with built-in thermostats POLY1, POLY2 (17Vac) and POLY3 (24Vac) on panel 9015093.

BUILT-IN THERMAL PROTECTION. OVERLOADThe system is heat protected on the elevation and backrest motors. In the event of overload, wait approx. 15 minutes for re-establishment. Built-in heat protection on 17Vca lines with POLY1, POLY2, and 24Vca line with POLY3 on panel 9015093. In the event of overload wait 15 minutes for re-establishment. They also work in short circuit. Built-in heat protection in the primary transformer, wait approx. 15 minutes for re-establishment.

CONNECTIONS The signal connections have been designed to be realised directly with connectors. Thus, the main keypad signals, 12-wire interphone conductor, are realised with a 2.54-mm by-pass connector, and the water unit output connection towards the 7-wire movements connector is also realised with a 2.54-mm by-pass. In this design it was considered more suitable to use the interphone hose, avoiding use of flat tapes.

Power: - The power communication is made with female connectors between panels 9015093 and 9015085, cables of

section 1 mm2. - Lamp: hose section 3 x 1 mm2 - Instruments: hose of 3 x 1.5 mm2

Intermediate electrical connections:On water unit supporting arm: - 24Vca, 3 x fastons - 17Vca, 3-terminal strip.

Movements: Both keypads are used together with the pedal. The assistant keyboard does not have the capacity to record memories.

Comments Only an ANCAR-authorised technician will handle the panel. In the event of a fault Replace fuse (T32mA), or the whole electronic panel.

Panel has parallel-duplicated connectors to allow new pedal signal (11-wire) and 8-wire connector inputs. Movement signals are laid out in parallel, both those from the water unit card (CN1) corresponding to the integration of both keypads and with the pedal movement functions (CN4). The chair movements block when an instrument is used in the adjustment function by means of use of the regulation pedal lever (turbine micromotor, ultrasound), realising conversion of pneumatic signal (air regulation ) to electrical signal. S1, contact normally closed. The safety signals are laid out in series, a bridge needing to be placed for the one not used. If the lamp phase is interconnected via the CN10 connector, the light will be turned off when the chair is down. Any upward movement (manual or memory) will turn it on. Spittoon return turns the light off.

Cables clamped with network clamps.Electrical diagrams Service manual: 9116443Comments - If fitted with Cattani aspiration system it includes an E-9015044 panel which controls the

aspiration signal, decanting cup and, on continuous aspiration systems, the 12V motor. - The board can only be altered by an ANCAR authorised technician.

In the event of a fault Do not repair. The board should be fully replaced. After receiving 24Vca, the panel permits the following functions to operate: washing of Cattani system by means of the incorporation of panel 9015044 in CN4, “P2” cup timing and “P1” glass and activation of the corresponding electrovalves on connector CN1, four 24Vca faston-type outlets for optional equipment (TIP1) – heater, Metasys system-. “SEL2” selector in the panel itself enables selection of whether or not glass and cup operation is combined (glass activation activates the cup) or separate. Timings: The glass function adjustable via “P1” has a “P1”max settable time of approx. 2-12 seconds. The settable cup function via “P2” is defined with a max. time of 3 mins If you want to turn off using the same keypad function. The activation of the cup and glass water works from both keyboards. Rinsing of the Cattani decanting cup occurs at the start and end of the aspiration cycle (with inserted panel 9015044). This panel includes the connecter to which the level sensors are connected (see diagram). These serve to block the glass level when it is at the maximum of its pre-established level. Once the aspiration has stopped, it will not restart until the level goes below the second sensor. The signal that comes from the cannula micros are also connected with CN2. These serve to activate the aspiration motor relay.
