Ice cream ranks as one of the most popular desserts. Ice cream can be healthy
for you because the milk and fat in it make it rich in calcium, phosphorous,
protein and vitamin A. It is also a good source of energy.
Most ice creams contain milk products, sugar and water. The first step in
making ice cream is to combine the
main ingredients – milk solids and
fats, sugar and water- to make a mix.
Then the mix is pasteurized to destroy
harmful bacteria by rapidly heating
and cooling the mix. The mix is then
homogenized, and this gives ice cream
its its smoothtexture.The mixture is
cooled and stored for a few hours, after
which flavouring and colouring are added. Different flavourings such as
chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla are used in ice creams.
