Page 3: I learner lesson 1 & 2

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the lesson we will:• know our fellow learners a bit better

– remember all their names• have learnt some useful strategies

for remembering• have understood the need for a set

of ground rules

Page 4: I learner lesson 1 & 2

We are learning this because…

it is important to get to know people we

are going to be working with and to set a

few ground rules which will help the whole

group to learn.

Page 5: I learner lesson 1 & 2

We will know we are successful…

if we can remember the names ofeveryone in our class and have managed to create a learning contract.

Page 11: I learner lesson 1 & 2

Remember My Name Game – class to form concentric circles

1. Go around the circle saying “Good morning / afternoon” to everyone and introducing yourself.

2. Now think of a rhyme for your name e.g. Mark likes the dark. Shaz likes jazz.

3. Now go around the circle again and introduce yourselves using your name rhymes as memory tags.

4. Think of a movement that will remind people of your name rhyme e.g. Mark who likes dark - places his hands over his eyes. Shaz who likes jazz – dances around.

5. Now introduce yourselves again, using your name rhymes and producing your movement at the same time.

Remember My Name Ball Toss

Rules:1. Say the name and the rhyme of the person you

are going to throw the ball to before you throw it.2. The ball must spend some time in the air – you

can not just pass it to someone.3. The ball must be passed to someone different

each time – if someone receives the ball who has already had it – the whole group must start again.

4. If the ball is dropped – the whole group must start again.

Object of the game = to get the ball around the whole

group as quickly as possible.
