Name of Activity: Lover’s Leap Equipment Needed: None…except maybe a prize for the winners Number of Groups and how organized: everyone has a partner; the students get to pick their own partner Location: Soft floor – Wrestling room or Gymnasic room How to Play/ Procedures: Every student must have a partner. The class makes two circles, a big one, and a small one, and one of the two partners stands in each circle. The big circle will run clockwise, and the little circle will run counter-clockwise. After a little while (30 seconds or so) the caller will call out a name of a position. The two partners then need to stop running, find each other, and get in the position as quickly as possible. The positions are the following (We will demonstrate): Lover’s leap (One player is carrying other player) Chicken on a Wire (One player lays on ground and puts feet up, the other puts stomach on feet and they try to balance) Piggy-on-the-back (Piggy back!) Water under bridge (One player does a back-bend the other slides under them) Wheel Barrow (A wheel barrow) Sitting on the Table (One person gets in crawling position with flat back other gently sits on them) Teeter-Totter (partners sit on floor with legs straight out and grab hands and pull back and forth like a teeter-totter) Switch-Partners (Get a new partner and grab they’re arm before you’re the last two left without one!)

Name of Activity: Lovers Leap

Name of Activity: Lovers Leap

Equipment Needed: Noneexcept maybe a prize for the winners

Number of Groups and how organized: everyone has a partner; the students get to pick their own partner

Location: Soft floor Wrestling room or Gymnasic room

How to Play/ Procedures: Every student must have a partner.

The positions are the following (We will demonstrate):

Lovers leap (One player is carrying other player)

Chicken on a Wire (One player lays on ground and puts feet up, the other puts stomach on feet and they try to balance)

Piggy-on-the-back (Piggy back!)

Water under bridge (One player does a back-bend the other slides under them)

Wheel Barrow (A wheel barrow)

Sitting on the Table (One person gets in crawling position with flat back other gently sits on them)

Teeter-Totter (partners sit on floor with legs straight out and grab hands and pull back and forth like a teeter-totter)

Switch-Partners (Get a new partner and grab theyre arm before youre the last two left without one!)

If the partners fail to do the correct position they will be eliminated from that round, and the last partnership to get into position will be eliminated from the round. The objective of the game is to be the last partnership left. The last partnership will win a prize (candy!)

Rules/Guidelines/ Hints:

Dont be too rough!!

Try to watch where your partner is while youre running!

For tasks like lovers leap or piggy-on-the-back decide in advance which partner is going to be lifted and which will be picking them up.

Pick a partner you will be comfortable with

Teaching Strategies:

Make sure class can hear while were explaining

Ask for any questions

Demonstrate positions, and review them a couple times before game starts so everyone remembers them

We will be caller and decide what positions will be done, so if certain ones dont work out well, we wont call them out again

We will be like the referees and decide who is eliminated from each round

We will play until the last 3 minutes so at the end we can ask how it went
