I chose to do my project on the history of some of my coins. My dad travels all
over the world and he brings me back all of these interesting coins. These coins
represent interesting facts, places, history and things from around the
world.
This Massachusetts coin dated 1776 is called the Pine Tree Copper because one side shows a pine tree while the other side shows the
Goddess of Liberty seated on the globe. Little is known about this coin, but there is only one original coin, but many replicas.
This coin represents the armor of God against evil as shown by a knight with a sword and shield. This coin pays tribute to
brave men and women of America’s military.
This coin shows the USS Missouri, a battleship that served from WWII to Desert Storm. It could fire a 2700 pound cannon shell 20 miles. It was a sister ship to the USS
Arizona, sunk during the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
This coin is from the USS Constitution, the worlds oldest active Navy ship. It was launched in 1797 and named by
President George Washington. It earned its nickname “Old Ironsides” against Great Britain in the War of 1812.
This coin came from the D-Day museum in Caen, France. D-Day, June 6, 1944, was when American,
British, and Canadian forces invaded France to begin the defeat of Nazi Germany in WWII.
This coin shows the American flag, and honors US military who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 on. Iraqi Freedom was begun to free the Iraqi people from dictator
Saddam Hussein.
