Ben UtechtSuper Bowl Champion

Author “Counting the Days While My Mind Slips Away”

“The Champion’s Way”

It is rare to find a true Renaissance man anymore, but that’s just what you get with Ben Utecht. Ben has always chased his dreams, finding his way from a small river town in Minnesota to a Super Bowl championship field. He has established himself as a prominent corporate and motivational speaker in the areas of leadership and culture. Both of his programs, The Champion’s Way™ and The MVP Program™, stem from lessons he learned in the locker room with Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy and in the huddle with future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. Both programs illuminate dynamic ways to succeed in business and life.

Ben has found success in many realms, sitting on the prestigious board of the American Brain Foundation, authoring Counting the Days While My Mind Slips Away with Simon and Schuster, and releasing award-nominated albums as a professional singer. However, without question, Ben would tell you his greatest accomplishment is being a husband to his beautiful wife and a father to their four daughters.

SESSION SPEAKERS

Corey WaltonU.S. Department of Labor

“Fair Labor Standards Act: Are Your Employees Classified Correctly?”

Corey Walton has been with the U.S. Department of Labor/Wage-Hour Division for 21 years. He spent 15 years as an investigator investigating hundreds of cases under several laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act, Davis-Bacon and the Family Medical Leave Act. Over the past seven years, Corey has served as the Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist (CORPS) in Wage and Hour’s Minneapolis District Office. In that capacity, Corey spends most of his time conducting and organizing DOL educational and training events throughout the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Grant CollinsLabor & Employment Shareholder

Felhaber Larson Law Firm

Legal Update

Grant Collins practices in both employment law and traditional labor law. On the employment side, he defends complex wage-and-hour lawsuits, including resisting class certification, and advises clients on issues of termination, severance, and compliance. Grant’s traditional labor practice involves advising clients on a variety of labor-related issues, including the recent phenomenon of employee social media use, responding to unfair labor practice charges, and handling grievance arbitrations.

Grant stays current on labor and employment law by serving as co-editor of Minnesota Employment Law Report, an up-to-the-minute blog on the latest developments in labor and employment law in Minnesota and throughout the country. Through this work and his professional experience, he is a frequent commentator in the news media on labor and employment cases.

Utecht has led a remarkable life---marrying his beautiful wife, raising his four daughters, and winning a Super Bowl ring with the Colts. Now only 37, he awaits a difficult future as multiple concussions steal his memories. His poignant story will teach you about faith, courage, and love---and remind you to make the most of each day.

Attendees will receive a free autographed copy of Ben’s book!
