1) On June 14-16, 2002, the Center hosted the Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education (GCCCE) Informatization Forum, 2002. This conference is part of the project for the celebration of 100th anniversary of Beijing Normal University. There were about 450 people participating in this meeting, who came from Mainland China, Hong Kong Special Administration Zone, Taiwan Province, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, the U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand. GCCCE was one of the conferences held by the Asia Pacific Committee (APC) affiliated with AACE. So far, GCCCE has become a very important academic forum in the world, and has provided a prime opportunity for Chinese computer educators worldwide to exchange and discuss the latest research on and development of information technology and education.

2) On September 21-25, 2002, the Center held the Symposium of the Theory and Practice of Enquiry Learning under the Web Environment. About 100 experts and teachers attended the

symposium. In May 2002, the project, entitled “A study of enquiry learning theory and practice under the Web environment,” was accepted as one of the key projects in the “Tenth Five-year Plan” of science and education in Beijing. The project now has 19 subprojects, which have been undertaken by over 30 schools nationwide.

3) On October 21-26, 2002, the Center held the Advanced Seminar of Developing the Subject of Educational Technology, sponsored by the Ministry of Education. There were over 70 experts and scholars participating in this seminar. During the five days, participants had an in-depth discussion on positioning and development of the discipline of educational technology; the interrelationship between educational technology and psychology, information management, and other related subjects; the construction of the subject of educational technology; plans for training educational technologists, as well as future development of the subject of educational technology.

4) On November 3-7, 2003, the Center hosted the Advanced Symposium of Educational Technology and Knowledge Engineering, sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The symposium aims to promote development of educational technology and knowledge engineering in China and to provide an opportunity of academic exchanges in order to make both faculty and researchers informed of the forefront of the research in above fields both at home and abroad and the dynamics of the development.

5) On December 12-17, 2003, the general project team (the Center) hosted the Symposium of Enquiry Learning under the Web Environment. Over 80 people from more than 30 schools all over China attended the symposium. At the meeting, participants discussed issues of enquiry learning and school education reform.

6) On Oct. 25-29,2004, Center for Knowledge Engineering Research of BNU and China Educational Technology Press together hold “Senior Workshop for Methodology of Educational Technology”. Over 60 professionals, scholars, teachers and graduates attended the workshop.

7) On Oct. 25-28, 2005, Center for Knowledge Engineering Research of BNU and China Educational Technology Press together hold “Senior Workshop for Methodology and Curriculum Construction of Educational Technology”. Over 70 professionals, scholars, teachers and graduates attended the workshop.

8) On Nov. 30-Dec. 4, 2006, School of Education Technology of BNU holds the 14th International Conference of Computer in Education (ICCE2006). 175 foreign delegates and 68 domestic delegates from over 20 countries and regions all over the world, such as Mainland China, China Hongkong, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Japan, America, Britain, Malaysia, Australia, Holland, Germany, South Korea, Switzerland, New Zealand, Mexico, Vietnam, France, Spain and so on. This conference was under great support of MOE and China Artificial Intelligence Association. The theme of this conference is Cross-cultural Understanding: Utilize Technology to Effectively Enhance Learning, with the purpose of enhancing the effective utilization of computer technology in education. The proceedings enrolled 45 long papers and 53 short papers, each of which has to be enrolled after the approval of three experts and finally programming committee chair. Besides, 20 posters have
