I placed this block in the middle of my system becausethis is the true goal. All of the other parts of my system (broadening horizons, etc.) combineto create a global citizen. This is the most important part of my system because experientiallearning is designed to create global citizens. With all of these parts coming together in aneducational forum will allow us to become global citizens.

INTRODUCTION

GCE is a system that has many different components working together to make sureeverything runs smoothly. In order to truly understand this concept we used plaster molds tomodel a system and its parts. Each member of our group created guiding questions thatrelates to our classes. Our guiding question for our Spanish course was, “How does culturalrelativism effect immigration?” This allowed us to dive into the content of the Spanish coursewhile seeing how different aspects of this system effect one another. For our How SoccerExplains the World course, we looked at how and why Americans alienate themselves fromsoccer? We discovered aspects of American culture and soccer’s global effect in order totruly answer this question fully. Our last two questions encapsulated our classes as a whole. The two questions were, “How does experiential education make a global citizen?” and “Howdoes immigration effect our culture?” These questions allow us to hone a lot of the skills welearned in other classes and they are also very similar to our courses conceptually.Systems and models always have some kind of process. First we developed questions thatcould be represented through a system. After we interpreted the questions, we broke downparts of the systems. The second major step was to transform those components/parts intoshapes. Third, we recreated shapes on sketchup and then created clay sculptures of theshapes. The clay sculptures were then used to make molds. Making the molds required us toplace the clay shapes into a cardboard box and pour ArtPlaster over it. This allowed us tobuild our systems with our blocks. Lastly, we used the blocks a clear representation of oursystem.
