INSTRUCTION MANUAL

Safety precautions

Please read this instruction manual carefully. This will enable you to operate your appliance safely and correctly.

Keep the instruction manual and assembly instructions in a safe place together with the various accessories. Please pass on these manuals and accessories to the new owner if you sell the appliance.

These instructions are intended for several models. Details may vary, depending on the appliance model.

Before installation

Damage during transport

Check the appliance for damage after unpacking it. Do not connect the appliance if it has been damaged in transit.

Incorrect connection.

Only allow a licensed professional to connect the appliance. If the appliance is connected incorrectly, it is not covered under warranty.

Safety notesThis appliance is intended for domestic use only. This appliance must only be used for food preparation.

Adults and children must not operate the appliance without supervision,

■ if they are physically or mentally incapable of doing so or

■ if they have insufficient knowledge or experience.

Never let children play with the appliance.

Hot surfaces

ã=Risk of burns!

■ Never touch the hotplates, the internal surfaces of the cooking compartment or the heating elements when they are hot. Small children must be kept at a safe distance from the appliance.

■ Never prepare food containing large quantities of drinks with a high alcohol content. Alcoholic vapours can catch fire in the cooking compartment. Only use small quantities of drinks with a high alcohol content and open the appliance door carefully.

ã=Risk of fire!

Never place flammable objects on the burners or store them in the cooking compartment. Never open the appliance door if there is smoke inside. Switch off the appliance. Pull out the mains plug or switch off the appliance at the circuit breaker in the fuse box. Shut off the gas supply.

ã=Risk of fire!

Flammable materials may be ignited by the heat. Never store or use flammable materials (e.g. spray cans, cleaning agents) under the appliance or in its immediate vicinity. Never keep flammable objects in the appliance or place them on the appliance.

ã=Risk of short circuit!

Never trap the mains cable of electrical appliances in the appliance door when it is hot or pull the cable over burners when they are hot. The cable insulation could melt.

ã=Risk of scalding!

Never pour water into the hot cooking compartment. This will produce hot steam.

Hot accessories and ovenware

ã=Risk of burns!

Never remove ovenware or accessories from the cooking compartment without an oven cloth or oven gloves.

Overheated oil and fat

ã=Risk of fire!

Overheated oil or fat can ignite very quickly. Never leave hot oil or fat unattended. Never attempt to extinguish burning fat or oil with water. Extinguish the flames with a lid or a plate. Switch the hotplate off.

Insufficient ventilation when cooking on gas burners

ã=Risk of asphyxiation!

Do not use the gas burners in unventilated rooms. Ventilate the room if you cook for a long period.

ã=Risk of fire!

Never switch on the extractor hood if the gas burners are not covered with pans. Grease deposits in the filters of the extractor hood can ignite, and the resulting hot temperatures can damage the extractor hood.

Incorrect repairs

ã=Risk of electric shock!

Incorrect repairs are dangerous. Repairs may only be carried out and damaged power cables replaced by one of our trained after-sales technicians. If the appliance is defective, pull out the mains plug or switch off the appliance at the circuit breaker in the fuse box. Shut off the gas supply. Call the after­sales service.

Glass hob cover

ã=Risk of injury!

Never close the glass hob cover if a burner is switched on or the burner is still warm. Hot glass can crack.

Remove any eventual spills before opening the hob cover.

Safety valve

Close the safety valve on the gas supply line when the appliance is out of use for prolonged periods.

Faults in the gas installation/smell of gasIf you notice a smell of gas or faults in the gas installation, you must

■ immediately shut off the gas supply and/or close the gas cylinder valve

■ immediately extinguish all naked flames and cigarettes

■ switch off electrical appliances and lights

■ open windows and ventilate the room

■ call the after­sales service or the gas supplier

Causes of damageHob

Caution!

■ Only use the burners when cookware has been placed on top. Do not heat up empty pots or pans. The saucepan base will be damaged.

■ Clear up spills immediately. Use deep pots for dishes with a lot of liquid. This will prevent the food from boiling over.

■ Ensure that the hotplate/burner is never switched on when the hob cover is on, e.g. by children playing.

■ Keep the hotplate dry. Salt water or wet saucepan bases will damage the hotplate.

■ Never operate the hotplate without a pot on it. Never use pots with an uneven base. Not enough heat will be drawn from the hotplate. It may glow red.

■ Observe the manufacturer's instructions when using special ovenware.Aluminium foil and plastic containers can melt and stick on hot burners.

■ Do not use roasting dishes if they must be heated using two burners. This will cause heat accumulation. The appliance could be damaged.

Oven

Caution!

■ Accessories, foil, greaseproof paper or ovenware on the cooking compartment floor: do not place accessories on the cooking compartment floor. Do not cover the cooking compartment floor with any sort of foil or greaseproof paper. Do not place ovenware on the cooking compartment floor. This will cause heat accumulation. The baking and roasting times will no longer be correct and the enamel will be damaged.

■ Water in a hot cooking compartment: do not pour water into the cooking compartment when it is hot. This will cause steam. The temperature change can cause damage to the enamel.

■ Moist food: do not store moist food in the cooking compartment when it is closed for prolonged periods This will damage the enamel.

■ Fruit juice: when baking particularly juicy fruit pies, do not pack the baking tray too generously. Fruit juice dripping from the baking tray leaves stains that cannot be removed. If possible, use the deeper universal pan.

■ Cooling with the appliance door open: only allow the cooking compartment to cool when it is closed. Even if the appliance door is only open a little, front panels of adjacent units could be damaged over time.

■ Cooking on gas burners releases extra heat and moisture. Adjacent units may become damaged over time. For long cooking times, switch on the cooker hood or ventilate the room.

■ Heavily soiled oven seal: if the oven seal is heavily soiled, the oven door will no longer close properly when the oven is in operation. The fronts of adjacent units could be damaged. Always keep the oven seal clean.

■ Oven door as a bearing surface: do not stand or place objects on the oven door when it is open. Do not hang objects on the oven door.

■ Carrying the appliance: do not carry or hold the appliance by the door handle. The door handle cannot support the weight of the appliance and could break.

■ Heavy accessories: do not pull out heavily laden accessories too far without first unloading them sufficiently. Heavy accessories will tip when pulled out. This causes pressure to be exerted on the shelf supports in the cooking compartment, which can damage the enamel. Relieve the strain on the accessories when they are pulled out by raising them slightly with one hand. Caution: always use an oven cloth or oven gloves when handling hot accessories.

■ Grilling: do not insert the baking tray or universal pan higher than level 3 when grilling. The high heat distorts it and the enamel may be damaged when it is removed. At level 4 and 5, only grill directly on the wire rack.

Do not place hot objects in the storage compartment. It could be damaged.

There is a limit stop between settings 250 and Û. Do not turn the knob beyond this point.

Control knob for grill

This control knob is used to adjust the heat setting of the grill gas burner.

There is a limit stop between settings ˜ and Û. Do not turn the knob beyond this point.

This function button is used to switch the oven lighting on and off.

Accessories

The accessories can be inserted into the oven at 5 different levels.

You can pull out the accessories two thirds of the way without them tipping. This allows meals to be removed easily.

The timerThe timer is a reverse counting timer which produces an audible signal once the duration set has elapsed.

Before using the oven for the first time

In this section, you can find out what you must do before using your gas oven or gas hob to prepare food for the first time. Read the Safety information section beforehand.

Remove the appliance packaging and dispose of it appropriately.

Baking out the oven

Cooking compartment initial cleaning

Remove the accessories from the cooking compartment. Completely remove any leftover packaging, e.g. small pieces of polystyrene, from the cooking compartment. Some parts are covered with a protective film. Remove this film.

1. Clean the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth.

2. If the hook-in racks have already been fitted, unhook and remove them. For information on removing the racks, see the section “Removing and refitting hook-in racks.”

3. Clean the cooking compartment with warm soapy water.

Heating up the oven gas burner

To remove the new cooker smell, heat up the oven when it is empty and closed.

Please note that, in the case of appliances with a hob cover, the burners in the oven may only be switched on if the hob cover is open.

1. Open the hob cover and appliance door.

2. Press the control knob for the oven, turn it anti-clockwise to position 250 °C and keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame has stabilised. Then close the appliance door.

Heating up the grill gas burner

For model HSG728155M, HSG727155M, HSG727125M, HSG723054M, HSH728155M or HSG725154M:

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Press the control knob for the grill, turn it anti-clockwise to position — and keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame has stabilised. Then close the appliance door.

3. After 30 minutes, switch the grill off by turning the control knob clockwise to position Û.

For model HSG722054M:

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Press the control knob for the oven, turn it clockwise to position ( and keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame has stabilised. Then close the appliance door.

3. After 30 minutes, switch the grill off by turning the control knob anti-clockwise to position Û.

Recleaning the cooking compartment

Clean the cooking compartment with hot soapy water. Refit the hook-in racks.

Cleaning the burner lids and cupsProceed as follows:

1. Clean the burner lids (A) and cups (B) with water and washing-up liquid.

2. Dry the parts off well.

3. Place each burner cup (B) on the burner (C).

4. Ensure the burner cap (A) is fitted correctly onto the burner cup (B).

Cleaning the accessoriesBefore using the accessories, clean them thoroughly using a cloth and warm soapy water.

How to operate your hob

Please note that, in the case of appliances with a hob cover, the burners may only be switched on if the hob cover is open.

Operating gas burners

Make sure that the burner lid always sits exactly on top of the burner cup. The slots on the burner cup must be open. All parts must be dry.

Using the combination modeTips on using the combination mode

Please note the following points when using the combination mode:

■ The temperature range marked on the control knob for the oven only applies to conventional heating. When the combination mode is used, the temperature in the oven is higher than the temperature which was set on the control knob.

■ If you are operating the grill gas burner on the lowest flame setting, you must also set the lowest temperature for the oven gas burner.

Switching on combination mode

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Switch on the oven gas burner by pressing the control knob for the oven and turning it anti-clockwise to minimun position ü (on knob, between Û and 140).The gas burner ignites.Keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame stabilises.

3. Carefully close the appliance door.

4. Keep the appliance door closed. After 5 minutes switch on the grill gas burner by pressing the control knob for the grill and turning it anti-clockwise to position —.The gas burner ignites.Keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame stabilises.

Note: Allow the appliance to heat up for 15 minutes, with the oven cavity empty (no accessories inside).

5. After 10 minutes, carefully open the appliance door and place the dish inside.

Turning on the grill, when the oven burner is already in action

When using conventional heating, you can briefly turn on the grill at the end of the cooking time for food and baked goods which require more intense browning or a crisped finish (e.g. crackling).

1. Set the oven gas control knob to the minimum position ü (on knob, between Û and 140).

2. Keep the appliance door closed. Switch on the grill gas burner by pressing the control knob for the grill and turning it anti-clockwise to position —.The gas burner ignites.Keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame stabilises.

3. After 10 minutes, set the desired temperatures.

Turning on the oven, when the grill burner is already in action

1. Keep the appliance door closed. Switch on the oven gas burner by pressing the control knob for the oven and turning it anti-clockwise to maximun position 250.The gas burner ignites.Keep the control knob pressed for a few seconds until the flame stabilises.

2. Immediately after ignition, set the oven gas control knob to the minimum position ü (on knob, between Û and 140)).

Using the rotary spitThe rotary spit can be used to cook joints such as rolled joints and poultry with excellent results. The meat is roasted thoroughly and evenly.

Use the rotary spit in conjunction with the grill or combination mode.

Preparing joints

Place the joint as centrally as possible on the rotary spit and secure it at both ends with the retaining clips.

You can also truss the joint with string. With poultry, bind the ends of the wings underneath the back and the thighs against the body. This prevents them from overbrowning.

Pierce the skin on the underside of the wings to allow the fat to escape.

Inserting the rotary spit

Turn the control knob once round clockwise, as far as the limit stop, and then turn it anti-clockwise to set it to the required time.

An audible signal sounds once the time has elapsed.

With good care and cleaning, your appliance will retain its appearance and remain fully-functioning for a long time to come. We will explain here how you should care for and clean your appliance correctly.

Catalytic cooking compartment panels

The catalytic cooking compartment panels are coated with self-cleaning enamel.

The surfaces clean themselves while the oven is in operation. Larger splashes will only be removed after the oven has been used several times.

Self-cleaning surfaces

The rear and side walls are covered with catalytic panelling. Never clean these surfaces with oven cleaner. Slight discolouration of the enamel does not affect self-cleaning.

Cleaning agentsDamage to the various different surfaces caused by using the wrong cleaning agent can be avoided by observing the following instructions. Do not use

■ undiluted washing-up liquid or dishwasher detergent

■ abrasive materials, scouring sponges

■ aggressive cleaners such as oven spray or stain remover

■ high-pressure cleaners or steam jet cleaners

■ cleaning agents with a high alcohol content

■ hard scouring pads or cleaning sponges

■ high-pressure cleaners or steam cleaners.

Wash new sponge cloths thoroughly before use.

Area Cleaning agents

Appliance exterior Hot soapy water: Clean with a dish cloth and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use glass cleaners or glass scrapers.

Stainless steel Hot soapy water: Clean with a dish cloth and dry with a soft cloth. Remove flecks of limescale, grease, starch and albumin (e.g. egg white) immediately. Corrosion can form under such residues.

Special stainless steel cleaning products suitable for hot surfaces are available from our after-sales service or from spe-cialist retailers. Apply a thin layer of the cleaning product with a soft cloth.

Gas hob and pan supports

Hot soapy water. Use very little water. Water must not be allowed to enter the appliance through the base of the burners. Clean boiled over liquids and spilt food immediately. You can remove the pan support. Do not clean the pan supports in the dish-washer.

Gas burners, hot-plate

Remove the burner cups and caps, and clean them with soapy water. The gas outlet openings must remain free from obstruction. Ignition plugs: small, soft brush. The gas burners only work properly when the ignition plugs are clean. Dry all parts thoroughly. Ensure they fit exactly when put back in place. The burner caps are coated in black enamel. The colour may change over time. This does not affect their function.

Never clean the gas burners in the cook-ing compartment yourself.

Removing and fitting the appliance doorYou can remove the appliance door to clean it more thoroughly.

ã=Risk of injury!

The hinges of the appliance door may snap shut with great force. Never reach into the hinges. After fitting the appliance door, always close all hinge locks.

The oven door hinges each have a locking lever. When the locking levers are closed (fig. A), the oven door is secured in place. It cannot be removed. When the locking levers are open in order to detach the oven door (Fig. B), the hinges are locked. They cannot snap shut.

Removing the appliance door

1. Open the appliance door

2. Lift up the locking levers on both sides.

3. Close the appliance door until you can feel resistance at around 15° (in relation to the closed appliance door).

4. Grip the appliance door on either side with both hands.

5. Close the appliance door a little further.

6. Lift the door upwards and at an angle to remove it.

Do not disassemble the appliance door.

Fitting the appliance door

1. Hold the appliance door at an angle.

2. Insert both hinges, left and right, into the supports.

3. Position the door so that the hinge grooves engage on both sides.

4. Open the appliance door.

5. Fold in the locking levers on both sides.

6. Close the appliance door.

Cleaning the hook-in racksYou can remove the hook-in racks for easier cleaning.

The hook-in racks are all fixed to the side walls of the cooking compartment at four points.

Removing the hook-in racks

1.Take hold of the bottom of the hook-in rack and pull it slightly forward. The lower hooks of the hook-in rack are released.

2.Take hold of the top of the hook-in rack and pull it up and out of the drill holes.

Cleaning the hook-in racks

Clean the hook-in racks with washing-up liquid and a sponge or brush.

Inserting the hook-in rack

1. Insert the upper hooks into the drill holes in the side panel.

2.Pull the hook-in rack slightly downwards and insert the lower hooks into the drill holes.

Troubleshooting

Malfunctions often have simple explanations. Refer to the table before calling the after-sales service, as you may be able to remedy the fault yourself.

Replacing the oven light bulb

If the oven light bulb fails, it must be replaced. Replacement heat-resistant bulbs can be obtained from the after-sales service or from specialist retailers. Please specify the E number and FD number of your appliance. Do not use any other type of bulb.

Never replace the oven light bulb when the appliance is switched on. Pull out the mains plug or switch off the appliance at the circuit breaker in the fuse box.

1. Open the appliance door.

2. Lay a tea towel in the cooking compartment if it is cold to prevent damage.

3. Unscrew the glass cover from the oven light bulb inside the cooking compartment by turning it anti-clockwise.

4. Replace the oven light bulb with one of the same type. Voltage: 230 V; Power: 25 W; Thread: E14; Temperature resistance: 300°C

5. Screw the glass cover of the oven light bulb back on.

6. Remove the tea towel and switch the circuit breaker back on.

Press the function button the oven lighting until it locks into place in order to check whether the oven lighting is working properly.

Here you can find tips on how to save energy when baking and roasting in the oven and when cooking on the hob, and how to dispose of your appliance properly.

Saving energy with your oven

■ Only preheat the oven if this is specified in the recipe or in the operating instruction tables.

■ Use dark, black lacquered or enamelled baking tins. They absorb the heat particularly well.

■ Open the oven door as infrequently as possible while cooking, baking or roasting.

■ It is best to bake more than one cake, one after the other. The oven is still warm. This reduces the baking time for the second cake. You can also place two loaf tins next to each other.

■ For longer cooking times, you can switch the oven off 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time and use the residual heat to finish cooking.

Saving energy with the hob

■ Always use a saucepan which is the correct size for your food. A larger, less full saucepan requires a lot of energy.

■ Always place a suitable lid on the saucepan.

■ Switch to a lower heat setting in good time.

■ The gas flame must always be in contact with the base of the saucepan.

Approx. 10 minutes before the end of the baking time stated in the recipe, insert a cock-tail stick into the cake at its deepest point. If no cake mixture sticks to the wood, the cake is ready.

The cake collapses. Use less fluid next time or set the oven temperature 10 degrees lower. Note the stirring times indicated in the recipe.

The cake has risen high in the middle and less around the edges.

Do not grease the sides of the springform cake tin. After baking, carefully loosen the cake using a knife.

The cake is too dark on the top. Place it lower in the oven, select a lower temperature and bake the cake for a little longer.

The cake is too dry. When it is done, make small holes in the cake using a cocktail stick. Then drizzle fruit juice or an alcoholic drink over it. Next time, set the temperature 10 degrees higher and reduce the baking time.

The bread or cake (e.g. cheesecake) looks good but is sticky on the inside (soggy with wet streaks).

Next time, use less liquid and bake at a lower temperature for slightly longer. For cakes with a moist topping, bake the base first. Sprinkle it with almonds or bread crumbs and then place the topping on top. Take care to follow recipes and baking times.

The pastries are not evenly browned. Select a slightly lower temperature to ensure that the cake is baked more evenly. Excess greaseproof paper can affect the air circulation. Always cut the greaseproof paper to suit the size of the baking tray.

Roasting and grillingOvenware

You may use any heat­resistant ovenware. Always place the ovenware in the middle of the wire rack. The enamelled baking tray is also suitable for large roasts.

Optimum grilling surface

You will achieve the best results if you use the grill zone.

Roasting tips

■ A a lower temperature produces more even browning.

■ Depending on the size of the joint, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of liquid to lean meat and 8 to 10 tablespoons of liquid to pot roasts.

■ When cooking duck or goose, pierce the skin on the underside of the wings to allow the fat to run out.

■ Poultry will turn out particularly crispy and brown if you baste it towards the end of the roasting time with butter, salted water or orange juice.

■ Turn pieces of meat halfway through the cooking time.

■ When the roast is ready, turn off the oven and allow it to rest for an additional 10 minutes. This will allow the meat juices to distribute themselves better inside the roast.

■ When roasting large pieces of meat, you may find that the amount of steam and condensation on the oven door is more than usual. This is a normal occurrence which has no effect on the oven's performance. Once roasting is complete, dry the oven door and window with a cloth.

■ If you are roasting on the wire rack, insert the enamelled baking tray into shelf position 1 to collect the drips of fat.

Grilling tips

■ If possible, grill items should be of equal thickness. They should be at least 2 to 3 cm thick. This ensures that they brown evenly while also remaining succulent.

■ Place the food to be grilled in the centre of the wire rack. Pour a little water into the enamelled baking tray and insert this into the shelf position underneath the grill to collect the drips of fat. Never place it on the cooking compartment floor.

■ Drizzle some oil over the food to be grilled before you place it on the wire rack under the grill.

■ If the food to be grilled is thin, turn it over halfway through grilling; if it is thick, turn it over several times during grilling. Use tongs when turning the food to avoid piercing it and, in the case of meat, to keep the meat juices inside the meat.

■ Dark meats such as lamb and beef brown better and more quickly than light meats such as pork and veal.

Tips on using the rotary spit

■ Place the joint as centrally as possible on the rotary spit and secure it at both ends with the retaining clips.

■ You can also truss the joint with string. With poultry, bind the ends of the wings underneath the back and the thighs against the body. This prevents them from overbrowning.Pierce the skin on the underside of the wings to allow the fat to escape.

Notes on tables

Temperature and cooking time depend on the amount and composition of the food.

For model HSG722054M:

The bottom of a fruit flan is too light. Place the cake one level lower the next time.

The fruit juice overflows. Next time, use the deeper universal pan, if you have one.

Small baked items made out of yeast dough stick to one another during bak-ing.

There should be a gap of approx. 2 cm around each item. This gives enough space for the baked items to expand and turn brown on all sides.

Condensation forms when you bake moist cakes.

Baking may create water vapour, which escapes above the door. The steam may settle and form water droplets on the control panel or on the fronts of adjacent units. This is a natural process.

How can you tell when the roast is ready?

Use a meat thermometer (available from specialist retailers) or carry out a "spoon test". Press down on the roast with a spoon. If it feels firm, it is ready. If the spoon can be pressed in, it needs to be cooked for a little longer.

The roast is too dark and the crackling is burnt in places.

Check the shelf position and temperature.

Safety precautions

Read and store these instructions carefully. Safe use can only be guaranteed if the appliance has been installed by a professional and in accordance with these assembly instructions.

The appliance must be connected to the mains only by a licensed and trained technician.

If you wish to convert to a different type of gas, call the after-sales service.

The fitter or the installer is liable for damage or faults resulting from incorrect assembly or installation.

When installing the appliance you must observe the building regulations that are currently applicable and the regulations set by the local electricity and gas suppliers (e.g. Germany: DVGW-TRGI/TRGF; Austria: ÖVGW-TR).

Switch off the power and gas supply before carrying out any work.

The information on the rating plate regarding voltage, gas type and gas pressure must comply with the local connection conditions.

Electrical appliances must always be earthed.

If an extractor hood is to be fitted, it must be fitted according to the associated assembly instructions. Ensure that the hood is fitted at least 650 mm clear of the hob.

This appliance must not be installed on boats or in vehicles.

Guidelines for ventilation

This appliance may only be set up in a sufficiently ventilated room and according to the applicable regulations and ventilation requirements.

Please note that the air volume required for combustion must not be below 2 m³/h per kW of power (see kW total power on the rating plate).

Installation

This appliance is always supplied with a set of adjustable feet and, depending on the model, with a splash guard. The appliance may also be used without the splash guard.

Fitting the adjustable feet

1. Remove all parts that are not permanently fixed, especially the pan supports and burners.

2. Remove the accessories from the oven.

3. Tilt the appliance by lifting one side from the floor.

4. Screw the adjustable feet and the plates into the mounting holes on the underside of the appliance. If you then want to move the appliance, fully screw in the adjustable feet.

5. Only finally level the appliance when the electricity and gas have been connected and all of the installation work has been completed.

Fitting the splash guard

1. Remove the packaging and the protective film from the splash guard.

2. Screw the splash guard onto the rear of the appliance using the 2 screws, each with a washer, retaining washer and nut.

Electrical connection

Only a licensed expert may connect the appliance. The appliance must be installed according to the most recent IEE regulations (Institute of Electrical Engineers). The appliance may be damaged if incorrectly connected.

Make sure the voltage of the power supply corresponds to the specified value on the rating plate. The rating plate can be found on the inside of the storage compartment flap.

Ensure that the power supply is properly earthed and that the fuse and the wiring and piping system in the building can withstand the load from the appliance.

It is recommended that you configure the circuit for the appliance to 16 A.

When you route the cable, make sure that:

■ the cable is not trapped or squashed.

■ the cable, for example, does not come into contact with sharp edges or cutting edges.

■ the cable does not come into contact with parts that can reach temperatures of more than 50°C above room temperature.

Connecting the mains cableWhere the appliance is directly connected to the power supply, an all-pole isolating switch with a contact gap is required. Complete disconnection in compliance with the conditions specified in overvoltage category III must be guaranteed.

The earth cable is excluded from this.

Replacing the mains cableThe mains cable is replaced via the terminal block. The terminal block is located on the back of the appliance.

The mains cable must be of the following type:

■ H05RRF

■ 3 x 0.75 mm²

■ 230 V~

Leave the mains cable slightly overlong so that you can pull out the appliance for cleaning purposes.

Proceed as follows:

1. Open the terminal box.

2. Loosen the screw (A) on the terminal block.

3. Loosen the screw contacts.

4. Install a mains cable.

Note: The cable must comply with the specifications in the section "Type of mains cable".

5. Connect the yellow-green wire to terminal (<).

Note: This wire must be at least 10 mm longer than the other wires.

6. Connect the blue neutral wire to terminal (N).

7. Connect the cable to terminal (L).

Gas connection

The appliance must be connected in accordance with the currently applicable regulations. Before installing the appliance, check that the local conditions (type of gas and pressure) are compatible with the appliance settings. The conditions for setting the appliance can be found on the rating plate. Connection to the gas lines and seal fitting must be carried out professionally according to the currently applicable standards.

Gas connection on the applianceThe gas connection (ISO 228-1, 1/2") is located at the rear left of the appliance. The following connections are provided with the appliance:

Default setting of the burnersThe burners are set up for G30 liquefied gas (29 mbar) on delivery. A nozzle set for G20 natural gas (20 mbar) is supplied with the appliance.

Connecting to natural gasOnly use connecting lines or flexible hoses which comply with the applicable regulations and which are approved for this purpose.

1.Screw the connecting piece ISO 7-1 (C) and the seal (B) to the gas connection (A).

2.Hold the connecting piece (C) with a spanner and screw it to a fixed connecting line (D) or a flexible gas connecting hose.

Only use approved sealing compound to seal the thread.

Connecting to liquefied gasIf you connect the appliance to liquefied gas, you must always install a suitable gas pressure regulator. Use the total gas consumption of the appliance stated on the rating plate to select a suitable gas pressure regulator.

Only use connecting lines or flexible hoses which comply with the applicable regulations and which are approved for this purpose.

1.Screw the corrugated tube union (C) and the seal (B) to the gas connection (A).

2.Slide a flexible gas connecting hose onto the corrugated tube union (C).

Flexible hose

If you use flexible hoses, make sure that:

■ the hoses do not become trapped or squashed.

■ the hoses are not subject to twisting or pulling forces.

■ the hoses, for example, do not come into contact with sharp edges or cutting edges.

■ the hoses do not come into contact with parts that could reach a temperature higher than 70 °C above room temperature.

Make sure that the full length of the hoses is accessible for inspection.

Installing the safety valveThe installation of a safety valve for opening and closing the gas supply is a compulsory requirement. Fit the safety valve between the gas supply line to the appropriate room and the appliance. Ensure unhindered access to this valve.

Checking for leaksAfter connecting the gas line, check the connections for leaks using soapy water.

Initial useSwitch the appliance on as described in the instructions for use. Light all the burners and check that the flames remain stable at both the high and low settings.

Converting the gas type

If the appliance is not already set up for the existing type of gas, the appliance must be converted. The conversion to a different type of gas must be carried out by an authorised expert in accordance with the applicable regulations. The rating plate indicates the type of gas and the gas pressure which have been pre-set in the factory.

The rating plate is located on the inside of the storage compartment flap.

In order to convert to a different type of gas, the nozzles must be replaced and the low flame and primary air may have to be adjusted.

Hotplate burners

Replacing the nozzles

1. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply.

2. Remove the pan supports.

3. Remove the burner caps (A) and burner cups (B) from the burners (C).

4. Remove the nozzle (D) and replace it with an appropriate nozzle for the new type of gas (see section "General nozzle table").

5. Replace the gas label with the new gas label that was supplied with the nozzle set.

6. Place each burner cup (B) on the burner (C).

7. Position the relevant burner cap (A) exactly on top of the cup (B).

8. Refit the pan supports.

Setting the minimum gas flow

1. Switch on the gas burner.

2. Turn the control knob for the gas burner towards the small flame setting.

3. Remove the control knob for the gas burner.

4. Adjust the internal setting screw until a stable flame is burning correctly. Loosen the setting screw to increase the gas flow or tighten it to decrease the gas flow.Check that the flame does not go out when the gas flow is quickly changed between maximum and minimum, and vice versa. The setting is correct when the height of the small flame is approx. 3 to 4 mm.

Oven burnerReplacing the nozzles

1.Remove the removable floor of the oven by undoing the 2 screws at the front and pulling the floor out upwards and towards the front.

2.Undo the two screws on the right and the one screw on the left of the oven burner and pull the burner upwards and towards the front slightly.

3.Unscrew the nozzle and replace it with a nozzle which is suitable for the new type of gas (see "General nozzle table" section).

4.Replace the gas label with the new label that was supplied with the nozzle set.

5.To reassemble the oven burner, follow the instructions in the reverse order.

Setting the minimum gas flow

1.Open the appliance door.

2.Press the control knob for the oven and turn it anti-clockwise to the maximum setting of 250. The gas burner ignites. Hold the control knob depressed for around 15 seconds and then release it.

3.Close the appliance door.

4.Remove the control knob.

5.Through the gas tap opening in the control panel, loosen the internal setting screw.

6.Replace the control knob and heat the oven for 15 minutes.

7.Then turn the control knob to the minimum setting 140.

8.Remove the control knob again.

2.Turn the cover clockwise or anti-clockwise.

4. To reassemble, follow the instructions in the reverse order.

Positioning the appliance

When installing the appliance, make sure that there is enough space in the final installation location to pull the appliance forwards for cleaning and maintenance work.

The ground underneath must be hard and firm. The wall immediately behind the appliance must be made from non-flammable material, e.g. tiles.

If you need to move the appliance in order to position it, make sure that the adjustable feet are fully screwed in.
