Summary

Incumbents in the Team Leader Facilities series train and supervise the Facilities Service Representatives while coordinating and directing the activities of an assigned area. Incumbents perform direct labor cleaning and maintenance duties as well as personnel assignment, training and management, quality assurance, and inventory control.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

The Team Leader Facilities I trains and guides 1-2 employees, including external contracted support staff.

Typical Functions

1. Performs direct labor cleaning and maintenance duties as a working department member.2. Ensures both the cleaning and maintenance of internal and external assigned facilities, including

performing minor repairs to buildings and equipment.3. Performs basic, scheduled preventive maintenance.4. Maintains a listing of preferred building contractors or service vendors and keeps records of all

repair and maintenance activities.5. Organizes and coordinates building workloads, implements core cleaning practices, and

specialists cleaning practices.6. Fosters solid communication channels with all parties involved in the event process, including

personnel from various outside organizations and University departments associated with scheduled events.

7. Assists the Event Manager and is acting Events Manager during his/her absence.8. Calculates and provides customers estimates of potential costs involved with hosting campus

events.9. Ensures that contractual setups for events are in accordance with rental agreements and meet

all safety directives.10. Works closely with the manager to assist in the hiring, training, and coordination of the event

guest services staff and part time event staff.11. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and University

holidays, as events require.12. Enforces proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and standards.2. Knowledge of hazardous materials coupled with the ability to handle them effectively.3. Ability to identify maintenance problems that need the attention of repair personnel.4. Knowledge of building safety codes and regulations.5. Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work

removal equipment.12. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of commercial or industrial cleaning experience is required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The environment for this classification varies and includes office environments and outdoor environments. In the office environment, employees are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily temperature changes. In the outdoor environment, employees are not protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. The employee may also be exposed to loud noises, vibrations from equipment, and atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
