Introduction

We have over 30 years’ experience of providing HR support to schools in Calderdale enabling us to be responsive to your needs and offer you tailor made, flexible and practical HR solutions.

This document outlines the Human Resource service we will offer in 2017 to 2020. Our aim is to provide an effective and efficient service, building on the strong partnerships we have developed with our customers over the years.

We have used the results of a recent service review and your feedback to help us develop our service offer. You asked for flexibility, ease of access and simplified billing and all of these have been incorporated into our offer.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have contributed views and suggestions over the last 12 months. Your feedback is highly valued and helps us improve the service we provide. Please continue to keep in touch and tell us how we are doing.

Our Services

Advisory

The team offers a pragmatic service with a straightforward approach to advising schools. We believe there is a genuine value to customers in choosing a HR provider that links directly to a customer’s Contracts and Payroll provider which is why we encourage you to consider the Advisory offer. The team pride themselves on being practical, realistic and methodical which reflects in the approach they adopt to HR issues. Paula Dodd, Deborah Dunn, Sarah Robinson and Team Leader Sarah Smith (currently on maternity leave 2016-17) are looking forward to continuing to work with you.

Contracts and Payroll

The Contracts and Payroll team have substantial experience and are knowledgeable experts in providing advice and support to schools and academies. The team, consisting of Nasar Ahmed, Helen Bentley, Sarah Bowen, Tracey Broadbent, Marie Dyson, Nicola Goldsmith (currently on internal secondment), Lisa Hemingway, Hamaira Khatoon, Victoria Woodall, Gillian Wright and Team Leader Leigh Watters are looking forward to continuing to help customers in the forthcoming year.

Pensions

This experienced and knowledgeable team will take away your worries about pension estimates, early retirements and the often daunting prospect of year-end reporting. Diane Eastwood, Diane Barber and Lucy Mead have expertise in all areas of Local Government and Teachers’ Pensions.

Occupational Health

Physical and mental illness can be both upsetting and disruptive to your employees and your school. Our nurse led practice will help support you and your employees. Our Occupational Health Administrators, Cath Butterworth and Suraya Grice co-ordinate surgery bookings and explain the referral process to both managers and employees.

Recruitment

Time is precious and starting a recruitment process can feel daunting. Recruitment and Resourcing Manager Emma Bolton and her team, Adam Tomlinson, Andrew Bentley and Scott Mileham are recruitment experts and take recruitment challenges in their stride. Their key skills include marketing, relationship-building and time management which means your vacancies will not be empty for long.

Workforce Development

The Workforce Development team offers support across a range of organisational learning and development activities, enhancing the behaviours and skills of your workforce to meet the needs of Continuous Professional Development.

We are an Umbrella Body for the DBS service enabling us to offer DBS processing to schools and academies. Our dedicated team process in excess of 2,000 checks per year. You can therefore be assured of a fast, reliable and professional service.

Contracts and Payroll

The Contracts and Payroll team offer an education specialist service tailored to meet your needs. Comprehensive contract and payroll management will reduce the administrative burden on your school through the provision of an effective and flexible service.

All customers have a designated Contracts and Payroll specialist who will deliver support via email, telephone and where appropriate, at your school site. The team offer guidance on the application of HR policies and have expertise in both Local Government and Teachers Terms and Conditions.

The team create contractual documentation and calculate appropriate payments and deductions for all aspects of the employee lifecycle and provide secure electronic storage and maintenance of employee personal files. We manage your employment contracts and free you from the complexitiesofTaxandNationalInsurancecalculations.Weproducepayslipsandyear-endreports,keepingyouinlinewithHMRCguidanceensuring that all contractual, statutory and voluntary payments and deductions are made in accordance with statutory legislative requirements.

The Pensions team are experts on pensions and the associated legislation. They work alongside the Contracts and Payroll, Advisory and Occupational Health Service to provide comprehensive pensions administration. The service will liaise on your school’s behalf with the relevant pension scheme to provide returns, answer queries and respond to requests.

Occupational Health

When an employee phones in sick we know how difficult this can be. There is genuine concern for the welfare of the member of staff, also on a practical level lesson cover needs to be arranged and plans are often cancelled.

Our Occupational Health Service is focused on providing a service which concentrates on reducing the risk of ill health as opposed to only seeing people once they are absent due to ill health. This helps you to avoid the hassle associated with staff absence. Working with your senior leadership team we proactively address health issues, offering confidential support and advice. This enables your managers to meet both statutory and duty of care responsibilities to protect the heath, safety and wellbeing of your employees.
