The streamlined service enables you to cost-effectively operate, and grow your IT environment by enhancing server uptime, and enabling rapid repairs at predictable support costs. How it works We work with you to identify the required onsite spares stocking and the service-level requirements for each of your data center locations. Our account team will provide the training and help you set up your HP Spares Management Service. The initial seed stock inventory is shipped to each data center, and your assigned contact scans the inventory into the HP Spares Management Service tool. The inventory of spare parts is barcoded, digitally recorded, and stored in your secure location. In the event of a hardware failure, you can swap out the defective part with an available spare and send the defective one back to HP for replacement. For example, when a server has a component failure and needs a part to be replaced, your technician can troubleshoot and simply replace the necessary part from the local spares stocking location. Once the spare part is consumed and the server serial number and spare bar code are entered into the tool, the failed component is returned to HP. HP can then manage the entitlement, replenishment, and inventory reconciliation activities to make sure that your inventory is refreshed.
