10

● This is based on the feedback of hundreds

of candidates who have successfully used

Optuma courses to help them prepare for

the CMT exams.

● There are too many concepts that you

must know to be able to simply read the

text and hope that you will pass.

● You have to have a disciplined approach

to this exam. The following is our

suggested way to approach your study.

11

● If you have the time, the best place to start

is to have a read of the chapter for yourself.

● There will be things that don’t really make

sense, but that is ok. Make sure you keep a

note of the things that you do not

understand.

12

● Watch the video lessons that we have on

that chapter.

● In each video I cover nearly all the material

in the chapter and really focus on the

learning objectives.

● Watch a second time and make sure you

write your own notes by hand.

● Stop the video to write the notes.

13

● Print out the important slides, glossaries,

cheat sheets, and your own notes.

● Hang them on the wall so that you see them

everyday.

14

● If there is a quiz at the end of a chapter, take

it and see how you go.

● These are a rough guide to make sure that

you have grasped the main concepts.

● Don’t be too concerned about these grades.

The practice exams are more important.

15

● We’ve taken the CMTA’s original practice

exams, vetted them, and added new

questions.

● We have tried to match what you can expect

when you take the real exam.○ 120 - 132 questions.○ 2 hours to complete.

● Treat these as real exams.○ Give yourself 2 hours○ Mark a question that you are unsure of and

come back to it.○ Don’t use the book (you don’t have time).

16

● Make sure you “View Questions” at the end.

● If it is a question that caused other

candidates issues, we also add an

explanation in the answer.

● We also include references for every

question so that you can review for yourself

in the text.

17

● When you are finished the exam, take the

time to review the areas that you need to

study more.

● You can review all your past practice exam

results.○ Clicking the “eye” icon allows you to see the

questions and the answers.

● You need to be aiming for above 85%

18

19

● If you are starting early, then focus on

reading the book and review the bonus

material.

● The best time to start the serious,

disciplined study is around 16 weeks before

the exam.

● Then, focus on a lesson every week and

leave yourself 2-3 weeks for the practice

exams.
