HR is known for being a fast paced, multitasking, detail oriented, and

overwhelming department. The business of taking care of your employees is as

important as the business of making money. On the next few pages, we are

going to look at several ways to keep organized in human resources.

With so many different

appointments and meetings

planned in a day, it’s hard

to remember everything.

Utilize your smart phone to

keep track of where you

need to be throughout the

day. Also, using an

electronic calendar will

ensure you don’t double

book yourself.

Some people like a physical notebook, while others enjoy using their electronic

devices to keep their notes. Either is fine if it works for you, but just remember, keep

all notes in one place. Don’t use sticky notes or small scraps of random pieces of

paper because they can be easily misplaced – in a pinch, take your notes and then

transfer them to your device or staple them inside your notebook.

Spend a small part of your

morning thinking about

what you want to

accomplish during your day.

Write down the tasks and

errands that you need to

get done. As you complete

your tasks, cross them off

your list. It doesn’t matter

whether you do this

manually or electronically,

the process itself will keep

you motivated.

Email inboxes can get very overwhelming. Flag the

emails that can be taken care of tomorrow and

respond to the ones that need to be taken care of

now. Before you head home, make sure your emails

are either flagged or responded to. Unless it’s an

emergency, a good practice is to take care of your

emails in 15-minute shifts – first thing in the morning,

after lunch, and right before heading home.

There are hundreds of small pieces

that are involved in recruiting new

employees; job posting, resume

management, and applicant tracking –

all of these procedures can include

many people, which can get pretty

overwhelming. Let technology do most

of the work for you. Recruiterbox is an

all-inclusive system that will keep all of

your applicant/hiring processes in one

place.

One thing that can get you behind is losing things – keep your desk free of clutter.

First, make a list of all the aspects of your job and breakdown what paperwork

and supplies you need to have in or on your desk. Second, make a specific spot for

each of your tasks. Don’t let something sit on your desk if it doesn’t have a spot, or

create a spot for things that need to be taken care of the next day.

Recruiterbox was created by talking to the people that spend a lot of time in the

hiring process – it is designed to simplify recruiting, from organizing applications

to job offers. One of the best features of the software is its ability to be

everywhere you are – having all your files in one secure place online will free you
