It all starts with a list of candidates.

Favorite tools for extracting candidate: - Outwit Hub- Table Capture (Chrome extension) – working since LI took away/broke the “table view” for projects

Other possible tools:Tools by Broadlook: diver, Contact captureEvernote

Needed Information:Name & company

Page 4: How to Effectively Leverage Email Validation Tools

Table Capture is a great Chrome Extension to easily extract a table off the web. I’ve found it works in a lot of surprising locations!

Page 5: How to Effectively Leverage Email Validation Tools

First Step: To clean up & normalize the data:1. Remove extra information from the name that won’t be in the email

Rarely used/Invalid characters: ! # $ % * / ? ^ ` { | } ~a. You can get rid of the certificationsb. Save variations of the name, it will come in useful later

2. Separate First Name -> Middle Name -> Last nameAs you separate, make sure middle name is really a

middle vs a hyphenated double last name

Page 6: How to Effectively Leverage Email Validation Tools

Name demonstration

3. Once the names are in 3 separate columns, add variations of names/nick names- (Daniel <-> Dan, Jen <-> Jennifer, etc)- Duplicate & Separate out hyphenated/non hyphenated last names

Tip: to separate the names into

columns, use MS Notepad.Find & replace the “ “

(space) and substitute in a (tab).

4. Add Domain name for the company (This can be tricky!)Many companies have multiple email domains. For the purposes of this demonstration, we want the most common domains.

Domain finding tools:- Start with the obvious domain (using google) onwhois- New favorite: (Chrome plugin)

Domain Availability Checker and Whois - Old favorite: www.who.is- www.morningstar.com –> Stock quote ->

company profile- Alexa – often the same info as whois- LinkedIn Company pages- Look for a recruiter at the company, many will

list their email address on their profile.

Ex: Lockeheedmartin.com pricewaterhousecooper.com

Example of Pepsico email domains:

However, pepsico.com is the primary one, used by most people.

Email addresses

This next part is a little labor intensive, but yields great results. - Using the link below, add your list of emails to an outlook.csv file.- Copy & paste each name & domain into their respective fields on theEmail permutator (see the link below)

Tools you will need:Email permutator:bit.ly/RB-SC2014-permutator Outlook csv headings:http://bit.ly/RB-SC2014-outlookcsv

How to Import into LinkedIn!

Step 1. Import outlook csv into LinkedIn.From a free LinkedIn account- Connections -> “Keep in Touch”(You’ll need to request access to the new address book.)- Then go to Settings in the upper right hand corner.- For the purposes of this demonstration, I’m going to import using an

outlook.csv file.

Once you import the email addresses, it takes LinkedIn time toSync them with their respective accounts. The time it takes is determined by how many addresses you do at once.

Reminder: [email protected]

Page 12: How to Effectively Leverage Email Validation Tools

Step 2: Viewing the email address.- Sync a Gmail acct with LinkedIn.- Then go to connections- Select “Filter by” -> “Outlook Contacts CSV”- Also “sort by” -> “first name” OR “last name” to bring the profiles

to the top of the screen- When you hover over each person, then click “message”

The email address!(Click on “message” under each name to see the email)

Will this work for personal email addresses as well? Absolutely! I typically find either a corporate OR personal email address at least 60-75% of the time. With the ones I have left over, I can often use a “brute force method” to bring that number up to 85-95%!

Some things to remember:- Just because the email does not come up in

LinkedIn, does not mean it isn’t a legit email!- It just wasn’t the address registered with

LinkedIn the profile.- The email may still be a valid address!- Try mail-tester.com

Tip: Good idea to build a list of corporate addresses & personal ones separately, if you want to find both addresses.

LinkedIn will only show one address per person.

Page 17: How to Effectively Leverage Email Validation Tools

Brute Force MethodTry to find their social footprint- Screen names (did you check if they have a

personalized LinkedIn domain)- Try finding their Middle name.TIP: When finding their information, it is helpful Info to know:- Where they live and have lived (company, titles, schools, other info

you’ve found). This is helpful to figure out if you are looking at the right “John Smith”.

Where to find this information?- Facebook, twitter, pipl.com, Peekyou.com- For personal information (including middle names): Radaris.com,

zabasearch.com, any of the other million personal information sites.TIP: If they have a professional license, you can look them up for most states!
