Thank you for downloading my report about listwire, the free autoresponder. I hope the

report covers everything you need to setup your own free autoresponder.

In this document I’m going to explain every step from signing up to listwire, creating

your autoreponder, your messages, your subscription form and your thank you page. At

the end of this report you will be able to subscribe to your own autoresponder and

receive the first messages.

In advance, I’d like to apologize for any mistakes in my english writing. I’m living in

Germany and therefore my english is far from perfect. Please feel free to report any

mistakes to my email address so that I can correct them.

If you have any further questions concerning listwire, you can also send me an email and

I’ll try to provide you with an answer.

Kind Regards,

Michael

1. Signing up

At first you have to create your account at listwire.com. If you like, you can use my

affiliate link: http://www.listwire.com. You may wonder why there is an affiliate program

for listwire although it’s a free autoresponder service. More on this in a few seconds.

The website looks like this:

You can either use the sign up button on the top of the website or below the video. By

the way, in the video Gary Ambrose tells you something about the autoresponder service

and that it’s free and he intends to keep it free forever. There will never be an option to

upgrade when you log into your account.

Page 5: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

After clicking the sign up button you arrive at the subscription form below. If you

intentionally used my affiliate link, you should see

“Referred By: List Wire Member – michaelr”,

otherwise it will simply say

“Referred By: List Wire Member – No refferer”.

Just choose a username that is not already used and type in your contact information. It

is important that you enter your correct address because listwire follows the CAN-SPAM

act which says that you have to provide valid contact information in your autoresponder

mails at all times.

Your contact information will show up in your autoresponder mails in the following form:

Business Name, Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State / Province, Zip, Country.

After clicking the create account button you will see a thank you page which says that an

email with a verification link was send to your email address.

Once you click on the verification link you will be able to login to listwire.

2. Your first login

When you login to your account the first time you will see the following screen with

another video of Gary Ambrose.

If you joined listwire using my link you should watch this video carefully. Otherwise you

can just skip it ;).

Just kidding… Watch the video and find out why there is an affiliate program for listwire.

3. Setting up your first autoresponder

Logged in to your account, you will see the following page:

At the top you see the main menu to setup messages, get information about your

prospects, change general settings, create/analyse link tracking, manage list builder ads

and get support.

Unfortunately the support section is still in development. You will find a link to a member

forum and a ticket system, but no user guides, FAQs or video tutorials, yet. That’s why I

decided to create this how-to because the configuration is not straight forward.

I won’t cover tracking and builders in this how-to since you won’t need them to setup

your autoresponder.

On the left hand side you see an account management and an affiliate management

menu. The only thing we’ll need here is the “manage autoresponders” which you should

click now to create a new autoreponder.

Page 8: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

You will see this screen:

Initially listwire creates a master autoresponder which is named like you username.

Personally, I don’t want to reveal my listwire username, so I’d create a new

autoresponder by clicking on “Click Here To Add A New Autoreponder List”:

Page 9: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

You will have to enter a new name and description for your autoresponder. Don’t bother

with replication for now. As you can see in the description you can create up to 12

autoresponders in your listwire account.

After that you will see 2 autoresponders in your account overview:

The next thing you have to do is to setup the newly created autoresponder. You do this

by choosing list settings in the top menu:

You can switch between your different autoresponders using the drop down list:

Page 10: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Select the autoresponder you just created and you’ll see the following options (initially

empty):

Your From Name

This is the sender’s name which the recipients of your mails will see in their mail box.

Your From Name

This is the sender’s email address which the recipients of your mails will see in their mail

box.

Account Description

This is a description of your autoresponder which will also be seen by your prospects, for

example if they want to unsubscribe from your list.

Postal Address

As described above this is the address which will be included in your emails. This address

can not be empty.

Confirm/Remove Redirect URL

This is the website where your prospects are sent after they subscribed to your list or

removed themselves from your list. As you’ll see later, this option doesn’t work, yet.

Don’t bother with Replication, Twitter and Pausing for now, just update your

autoreposonder settings.

Page 11: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

The next thing you have to do is setup your confirmation email (the first email which is

sent to your prospects after subscription).

Just type in a custom message for your subscribers. The text from the lower box will be

added to your email automatically. That means after subscribing to your list, your

propects have to confirm their subscription by clicking the link in the verification

message.

Now your autoresponder is ready for a first test.

Page 12: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

4. Creating your subscription form

Before you can test your autoresponder, you need subscriptions to your list. In this how-

to we’ll choose the option to use a subscription form on a website. You can choose this

option in the top menu:

After that you’ll see the following screen, telling you that you haven’t created a web

form, yet:

Obviously, you have to click the button to create a new subscription form.

You have to enter some general information for the subscription form:

Page 13: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Form Name:

Simply choose a name for your subscription form.

Form Type:

Choose In-Line

Form Redirect URL:

This is the website where your prospects are sent after they subscribed to your list. This

URL really works as you’ll see later.

New or Existing Window:

Choose if the Redirect URL should be opened in a new browser window.

We don’t want to use a tracking code and variables for now.

When you entered the information, you can go to the next page:

Here, you can setup the look of your subscription form. If you click on “[Click Here To

Edit This Text]”, you will be able to enter some text above or below the input fields.

Page 14: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Just type in something that describes what your prospects get when they sign up. If you

click on the live preview link, you’ll see how your form will look like on your website:

Note that there will be a link to listwire below your subscription form, if you don’t delete

it in the html code later on. I don’t really know if it’s against listwire’s TOS to delete the

image and link.

If you are happy with your subscription form, you can click on “Save My Form” and you’ll

return to the overview of your web forms:

Page 15: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Now we need the html code of the web form to put it on our website, so you click on “get

code” and you’ll see the following pop-up:

To keep it simple, we copy the code from the lower window and create a very simple

html page from it. Just go to your Windows Explorer and create a new folder called

“subscriptionform”:

Double-click the new folder and create a file called “index.html”:

Open the file with the Windows editor and paste the code from listwire into the file. Now

add a <html><body> at the beginning and a </body></html> at the end. The result

should look like this:

Page 16: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Save the file and upload the folder “subscriptionform” to your website. After that you can

access your new subscription form at http://yourwebsite/subscriptionform, it should look

like this (In my example the URL is http://myaimbot.com/subscriptionform):

You can also upload the form to your blog or something like this. Just look for a tutorial

how to put raw html code on your website.

Page 17: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

5. Subscribing to your autoresponder

Now you’ll subscribe to your own autoresponder to test it, just enter your name and

email address and press submit:

After that you will see the following screen, telling you that you’ll receive a verification

email with a link to complete the verification process:

Page 18: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

This is the verification email we created earlier and it looks like this:

You can see the custom part and the part that is automatically added by listwire with the

confirmation link.

When you click the confirmation link, you’ll see a page like this:

Note that I defined the URL http://www.myaimbot.com/thankyou earlier, but listwire

doesn’t send the subscriber to this page. At the moment this option isn’t working, yet.

On the left side, the page says that the requested information was sent to your email

address. Obviously we didn’t define any follow up messages yet, so you won’t get the

information.

On the right side your prospects have the opportunity to order some “Cool Free Stuff”.

That means at the moment your thankyou page is used by listwire to do some sells. I

hope that will be changed in the future.

If you click on one of the buttons you will be sent to the sales page of a make-money-

online product.

Page 19: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Back to the browser window where you initially signed up for your own autoresponder:

If you click on the link you will be sent to the defined URL from my example

configuration. That is http://www.myaimbot.com/subscription.

Just like the subscription form itself, I created a folder called subscription and a file called

index.html with the following content:

After that, I uploaded it to my website and when you click the “After You’ve

Confirmed…”-link you’ll see the following page:

Page 20: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

6. Removing prospects from your

autoresponder

Before we create follow up messages we have to delete our email address from the

subscriber list so that we can sign up again.

You can see all subscribers of your autoresponder if you choose “prospects – search”

from the top menu within listwire:

You see that there is only one subscriber at the moment.

Page 21: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Now choose “prospects – unsubscribe” from the top menu:

Enter the email address you used for your initial test and press the button below the

form. Don’t blacklist the email address! The email address will be removed from your

autoresponder:

Page 22: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

7. Defining your follow up messages

So far, we only created a verification message and your prospects won’t receive any

further emails after subscribing to your autoresponder.

To define your follow up messages choose “messages – follow up messages” from the top

menu:

In the first part of the screen, you will see that you didn’t create any follow up messages,

yet:

Page 23: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Below this you can create your first follow up message:

You can use different tags to personalize the message, just choose from the drop down

list for the subject or the message body and click “<- Insert Tag”:

Page 24: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

We are going to create a very simple follow up message:

The subject is “follow up message 1”. For the body we use the message format “HTML

Based Message Only” so that we can use links in the text. The drawback is that we have

to format our message with html tags as well. Refer to any HTML tutorial or use a

WYSIWYG-Editor to create your text. Here we only use paragraphs <p>…</p>, a line

break <br/> and a link <a href=”…”>…</a>.

Note that I used the tag %firstname% to address the subscriber personally.

Below the Message Format, you can choose a Message Interval. If you choose 0 here, the

follow up message is sent directly after your subscriber confirmed his subscription. If you

choose 5 for example, the message is sent 5 days after your prospect subscribed to your

autoresponder.

Click on the button below the form to save the follow up message:

Page 25: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Before you subscribe to your autoresponder again to test the follow up message, you

should check if the format and everything is OK. Listwire offers a brodcasting function

which you can use:

Just copy your subject and message body from the follow up message you created and

paste it into the corrsponding field of the broadcast message:

Page 26: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Note that listwire changes the format of your html code when saving the follow up

message. That is no problem because the format is coded in the html tags and it doesn’t

matter if there are line breaks or not.

Choose Message Format “HTML Based Message Only” here, too. Send the email to an

address of your choice, don’t use any additional autoresponders, send the message

directly and don’t bother with twitter.

Page 27: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

Click on the button to send the message and you will receive a message which hopefully

looks like expected:

Since the message isn’t sent to a real subscriber, listwire doesn’t know the correct name

and uses “Testers Fullname” and “Friend” instead.

Page 28: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

8. Subscribing to your autoresponder … again

Now that the follow up message is defined you can subscribe to your autoresponder

again. It’s exactly the same as the last time. Go to the subscription form, enter your

name and email address, submit the form and click on the verification link in the email

you’ll get.

In addition to the mail you got after subscribing for the first time you will get this

message:

You see that listwire adds some information to your follow up message. It adds a box

with a link to listwire, the contact information you defined in your autoresponder and a

link to unsubscribe from the autoresponder or change the prospects contact information.

If you click the “here”-link in the follow up message, the website you defined will be

displayed together with a listwire overlay like this at the bottom of the page:

Prospects can remove this overlay by clicking on “remove frame”.

Page 29: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

If your subscriber clicks the link to unsubscribe or update his/her contact information,

he/she will see the following website:

If he/she unsubscribes from your autoreponder he will be sent to this page:

Again, this is not the URL that I defined above (http://www.myaimbot.com/remove), but

a site, where listwire wants to do some additional sales. I hope that will be changed in

the future, too.

Page 30: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

If your subscriber chooses to update his/her contact information, he’ll see the following

site where he/she can change his/her subscription details:

Page 31: How To Create a Free Autoresponder Using - · PDF fileHow To Create a Free Autoresponder Using by ... mistakes to my email address so that I can correct ... email with a link to complete

9. Conclusion

OK, that was it. I hope now you know how to set up your free autoresponder with

listwire.

If you have any questions, just send me an email and I’ll try to answer them.

Now setup your autoresponder and start to make money ;).

Kind Regards,

Michael
