Home Party Display Basics

l Bring a manageable set of product samples, no more than 15 titles. The selection included in your Starter Kit is perfect for introducing guests to what Barefoot Books has to offer. It contains bestsellers from each of our categories — Fun First Steps, Tell Me a Story, Natural Child, and Travel the World — as well as samples of our partner products. And there’s something for children of every age.

l Book stands can be very helpful in creating an orderly, approachable display. We recom-mend using folding wire book stands as they’re lightweight and easy to pack. If you don’t have book stands, no problem. Most hardbacks and board books will easily stand up on their own, while paperbacks look best lying flat.

l Pick a comfortable spot in the host’s house to set up your display, a table top surface and some seating make a great combination. We also recommend setting up a nearby display of sales materials — Complete Catalogues, Best of Barefoot flyers, Ambassador Opportunity Brochures and business cards — for guests to browse alongside the books.

l When possible, try grouping the products according to their categories as we have in the example shown on the next page. This makes it easier for guests to shop complementary titles. You can also check the complete catalogue for ways to group titles.

l No need for table cloths or display props when you’re setting up a home party display. A simple bouquet of flowers can be a welcoming touch, but in general let the books be the star of the show.

l Set up a payment station where you can sit with guests to help them finalise and pay for their orders. Have your order forms, calculator and business cards on hand.

l Refer to the Preparing for Your Barefoot Books Party Training PDF to make sure you have everything you need. See a home party in action in our Training videos, Conducting a Party, Part 1: Before the Party and Part 2: The 7-Step Presentation.

Community Event Display Basics (Single Table)

l Confirm the size of your display space ahead of time; you may need to plan for anything from a single 6 ft. table to multiple tables in a larger space. Our example display below is based on a single 6 ft. table using only the products in the Starter Kit.

l We recommend a simple red table cloth as the base of your display. Make sure it hits the ground so it can hide any items you need to store underneath.

l Display boxes/baskets in a variety of sizes can help maximise your table space and ensure each title is visible and easy to handle. Choose these in natural materials or solid colors in the Barefoot Books palette. You can find baskets like the ones pictured below (which were used upside down) at home stores like Target, IKEA or Marks & Spencer.

l You may also want to use multiple copies of certain books for added height and visual interest as we did in this example. This can also help ensure that smaller books aren’t lost among larger titles.

l Folding wire book stands travel easily and help create an orderly, approachable display.

l Try grouping the products on the table according to their categories as we have in the example on the previous page This makes it easier for guests to shop complementary titles. You can also check the complete catalogue for ways to group titles.

l Make sure to display marketing materials like the Best of Barefoot flyer, Ambassador Opportunity brochure, Best of Barefoot bookmarks and your business card for visitors to browse and keep. This can be especially helpful when your table is crowded with visitors and you’re not able to speak to each one.

l Keep a catalogue or two handy to refer to when speaking directly to visitors, but you may not want to display them with your other giveaway marketing material.

l Consider investing in a large vinyl sign from our custom Vistaprint Store to brand your space and help people spot you in large venues. Find a link to the Barefoot Books Vistaprint store in My Barefoot under Marketing.

l A sign-up sheet on a clipboard is a great way to capture new contacts as people stop to browse. You can down-load a pre-designed sign up sheet PDF in My Barefoot under Printable Materials.

Community Event Display Basics (Multiple Tables)

l Multiple tables means you can share additional titles! However, it’s even more essential to have an orderly display with multiple tables so the customer isn’t visually overwhelmed. Consider limiting the number of products displayed on each table to about the same or less than our single table display. Give priority to your bestsellers, seasonal items and new releases. You can add a basket of complementary titles for customers to flip through if you have additional stock you’d like to share.

Don’t forget these event essentials!

l Make sure all of your marketing materials are labeled with your contact information.

l Make sure that all your display aids are light, durable, and easily packed away.
