ANALYSIS It is evident from the previous graph that
watching Spanish movies is the most used strategy among the students as twelve out of the fourteen respondents enlisted it as one of their strategies.
The second most favourite strategy used is combined study with friends followed by learning from an online resource, the number of responses for which were ten and seven respectively.
Attending extra classes and attempting to write in Spanish had the same number of responses, six
Reading books and working as a translator were the least sought after strategies, with four and three responses respectively.
INFERENCES Watching movies and combined studies
being the most used strategies by Spanish students maybe due to their relative ease. Given the environmental factors at EFL-U, these are two highly accessible and feasible strategies that any student can adopt.
Ease of access also forms the reason as to why online resources follow the above two strategies in the list.
Attending extra classes and attempting to write in Spanish were adopted by a comparatively lesser number of respondents as these are the strategies used by more meticulous students.
The least number of respondents opted for reading Spanish books and working as translators owing to the level of expertise required to implement these strategies.
CONCLUSION Being introduced to a foreign language
broadens our perspectives and opportunities. The teacher also plays a very prominent role in enhancing language skills.
Whether the learning becomes a fun-filled experience of a tiresome one depends on the measures adopted by the students and the teacher.
