How does Hydrogen Fuel Cells work?
By Yining WangPartners: Sean, David, and Jasem
What do the hydrogen fuel cells contain? Two electrodes: an anode and a cathode.A proton exchange membrane.Oxygen and hydrogen.Catalyst for hydrogen ionization.A load.
How does it work? (First)The hydrogen enter the anode. The oxygen enter the cathode.
How does it work? (Second)The hydrogen react with the catalyst in the
anode and form positively charged hydrogen ions, and negatively charged electrons.
How does it work? (Third)The electrons will be stored as energy in the
load. The hydrogen ions will pass through the
membrane to the cathode.
How does it work? (Fourth)The hydrogen ions combine with the oxygen
in the cathode and form water. The water and other resulted wastes (heat)
are released out of the cell.
