The factors which influence the booking decision of a hotel are Value, location, Quality of life, Facilities/Activities available, Property size and Official star rating. Of all these factors 85% of the purchase decisions are influenced by the first three criteria.Internet is the leading source for planning and booking hotels. The other sources for planning and booking hotels are Word of mouth, Informational brochures, Newspapers, Online travel agents(OTA) and advertisements. 85% of the travellers consider the internet as their main source for booking hotels. 81% of the travellers consider online reviews about hotel are important to decide which hotel to stay at. Travellers review and experience of his stay in a hotel, accounts to 55% of new guests. 37% of the travellers reported that the internet prompted them to book more than any other channel. An average traveller visits more than 10 websites prior to booking. Travellers increasingly turn to mobile to research and book hotels.Travellers are more informed than ever and do a lot of comparison study before they book a hotel. Online travel agents such as Trip advisor, Yatra, Makemytrip, etc and search are the most common websites used to comparison shop for a hotel. 42% of the Personal travellers and 47% of the business travellers do comparison study before they book a hotel.
