Hovitaga Advanced PatternIntroduction

One of the most common tools used by ABAP developers is the Pattern functionality in the ABAP Editor. This helps the developers by generating program code needed to call function modules or class methods. However, usually the generated code does not fit the needs exactly and requires manual adjustment.

This add-on provides a lot of useful features to customize the generated code and this way spaes a lot of time for developers. Hovitaga Advanced Pattern is not a standalone report but it is an enhancement of the standard ABAP Pattern utility, so it does not require any further training.

Enhancing the standard

A popup window appears after exe-cuting the standard ABAP Pattern. Both Function Module and Object Oriented patterns are enhanced. The popup win-dow can be activated per SAP user.

Advanced customization of the gen-erated code

Using a very simple user interface, de-velopers can customize which parame-ters to use in the Function Module/class method. Variables can be declared to be used as parameters, with a naming con-vention that conforms to the scope (lo-cal or global) and the data type (struc-ture, tably type, data element etc.) of the parameter. Value assignments can be customized too.

Enhanced code clarity

The automatic removal of unused parameters increases code readability and also spares time if the developer would anyway want to remove them.

Quick navigation

Navigation to referenced DDIC objects (tables, data elements, classes, interfaces, table types etc.) can be done with a single click on the data type.
