CHAI STAFF
A MESSAGE FROM CHAI’S PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Todd Tilson Mitchell PosnerPresident Executive Director
There has been much change at CHAI over the course of fiscal year 2016. Programs and initiatives were begun and others completed, we welcomed new staff and Board members and wished others farewell, and CHAI 2.0 (our reorganization plan introduced in FY’15) was tweaked and implemented. At CHAI we have often remarked that, “the only constant in life is change;” but a very prescient fortune cookie motivated us to add, “Change is Progress.”
In FY’16, there has been significant progress in the development of our new Division of Aging in Community. With the support of a 3-year grant from The Leonard and Helen R. Stulman Foundation, we hired our first director of this new division. All of CHAI’s older adult programs will now collaborate to find opportunities under one umbrella. Among other anticipated benefits, this has already resulted in a new partnership with LifeBridge Health. In addition, we have drawn increased attention from AARP, Aging 2.0, The Associated, and other organizations as a host and incubator for new program initiatives to support aging in community.
In the CHAI 2.0 Community Development Division, we re-envisioned our community engagement work and have identified new synergies among programs and projects, such as disseminating information about CHAI’s homeownership and loan programs through the Glen Hills Redevelopment Plan and uniting our Fallstaff school work with the Fallstaff Multicultural Organizing Project. This division has also enhanced our efforts to deepen CHAI’s impact in the public schools in our General Services Area and Pikesville.
In FY’17, CHAI will continue its implementation of CHAI 2.0 across all divisions and programs. We look forward to moving our organizational structure and work plan into greater alignment with CHAI’s assessment of outcomes, agency impacts, and team performance appraisals. Under the supervision of its new director, Division of Aging in Community will develop a strategic plan to guide its programs and activities. Our School Community Partnership Program will work to expand financial and educational resources for all schools in our focus communities. We will also solidify plans to begin our first projects in support of local Jewish Communal Anchor Institutions. Last but not least, CHAI’s Housing Enterprises Division plans to secure our next housing development opportunity.
We believe that FY’17 will be a year of capitalizing on new opportunities through the lens of CHAI 2.0, which will bolster our ability to enhance and stabilize the communities we serve. Thank you for your continued trust in and support of CHAI!
Sincerely,
