INTRODUCTION :-

• HACS is a system controlled by a remote system such as mobile phone or PC and at the same time controls, monitors and co-ordinates home appliances microwave, TV/VCR, lightning system, home security, Air conditioner etc.

• At present, the PC is used as the remote control terminal for most home control systems.

COMPONENTS OF HACS :-

•Controlled devices• Sensing devices• I/O interface device•Controllers•User interfaces• System network• Programming computer

Page 6: Home appliance control system (2)

•Controlled devices :-Controlled devices include the tremendous range of equipment that a home automation system is capable of controlling.

•Sensing devices :-Sensing devices can report values, such as temperature, humidity, light levels, sound levels, etc., or states (such as on, off, open, closed, etc.).

•I/O interface devices :-I/O (input/output) interface devices provide the logical communication link between the controller(s) and the controlled devices in a system.

Page 7: Home appliance control system (2)

•Controllers :-Controllers provide the intelligent control functions in a home automation system.

•User interfaces :-User interfaces allow the user to interact with the system by sending information to the controller or by presenting information to the user about the system.

•System network :-The system network includes all of the controllers, sensors, wires, cables etc.

•Programming computer :-Some system controllers allow the user to program the system with the system's own user interface(s).

MSP430 :-

Page 11: Home appliance control system (2)

MSP430 :-• Texas instruments, a pioneer in low power

microcontroller market has released the MSP430 microcontroller in late 1990s .

• This is a 16 bit, RISC based , mixed-signal processor.

• The MSP430 MCUs is designed specially for ultra-low-power application.

Page 12: Home appliance control system (2)

ARCHITECTURE OF MSP430 :-•The MSP430 CPU has a 16 bit RISC architecture.

•The architecture of MSP430 can be understood from the following diagram.

Page 13: Home appliance control system (2)
Page 14: Home appliance control system (2)

CONTD..

•The MSP430 microcontroller is based on a von-Neumann architecture.•The MSP430 von-Neumann architecture has one address space shared with special function registers (SFRs), peripheral control registers, RAM, and Flash/ROM memory.•The MSP430 CPU uses 16-bit CPU register and 16-bit Program Counter.

LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR (LDR) :-

• A Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) or a photo resistor is a device whose resistivity is a function of the incident electromagnetic radiation. Hence, they are light sensitive devices.

Page 16: Home appliance control system (2)

THERMISTOR :-•A thermistor is an element with an electrical resistance that changes in response to temperature.

OTHER HARDWARE USED:-

Bread boardResistor Jumper wire

SOFTWARE USED ENERGIA:-• Energia is an open source & community-driven

integrated development environment (IDE) & software framework.

• Based on the Wiring framework, Energia provides an intuitive coding environment as well as a robust framework of easy-to-use functional APIs & libraries for programming a microcontroller.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION :-•The objective of this project is to develop a device that allows for a user to remotely control and monitor multiple home appliances.

•This system will be a powerful and flexible tool that will offer this service at any time, and from anywhere with the constraints of the technologies being applied.

Page 20: Home appliance control system (2)

CONTD..

•Lighting control systems are widely used on both indoor and outdoor lighting of commercial, industrial, and residential spaces.

•Lighting control systems serve to provide the right amount of light where and when it is needed.

CHARACTERISTICS AND STRENGTHS :-•The major advantage of a lighting control system over conventional manual switching is the ability to control individual lights or groups of lights from a single user interface device.

•A major benefit of lighting control systems is reduced energy consumption.

Page 24: Home appliance control system (2)

CONTD..

•Another home automation advantage is added safety for both your family and home.

•You have the ability to control the small appliances and lighting, again with the simple tap of your finger on your favourite technological device.

Page 25: Home appliance control system (2)

FUTURE SCOPE :-•We can provide voice feedback system.•The user interface allows the user to enter the user name and password.•Control through remote control.•Control through mobile.

CONCLUSIONS :-

•This project helps to provide home security.

• It is very useful to the disabled people.

•Automation plays an important role in the global economy and in daily experience.
