PARISH MISSION STATEMENT HOLY NAME OF JESUS PARISH SAN FRANCISCO is a welcoming multicultural and liturgical community that celebrates our

Christian Faith. In the spirit of the “Joy of the Gospel” we work togeth-er promoting Catholic values and teachings. Our parish encourages a strong devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary, who gives us an example

of faithful discipleship and a generous stewardship way of life.

FAZtor’s Notes By Fr. Arnold Zamora Two regular masses in the morning, a 50th Wedding Anniversary mass for Benny and Ofelia Capuyan at 10AM, a Funeral Mass for Noel Wong at 12 noon while I’m having a Baptism at the side Baptismal Font, I have

another Baptism 1 PM, our Chinese mass at 3PM, our Sunday Vigil Mass at 5PM, and then the 8th grade Musical “Footloose” in the evening. That is the picture of our Saturday this weekend. I would like to congratulate and thank the organizers of the Dinner-Mini-Concert and Dance event last weekend entitled “Thank You for the Music” especially to Freda Motak, Carl Vengco and Ricky Inting from our Music Ministry and Ester Aure-Novero and Marissa Reyes from the Salve Regina Group of our Blessed Virgin Mary Shrine. While the show was going on at the Flanagan Center, our Youth Ministry was also busy making sandwiches for the Saint Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Society, for the homeless. Our young people also made some Arts and Crafts for Mother’s Day. Our Youth Ministry group is becoming exciting and fun. Last week also, members of our Building and Facility Com-mittee led by Colleen Durkin, Mike Gallagher and Mike Downing did a walk through and inspection of our buildings and facilities. Here are some of their findings: School/Gym - needs some work on cracks in the school building, displaced roof tiles and rusty conduit; Pastoral Center – a few gutter repairs, some interior and exterior paint, roof vent needs repairs, exterior door needs to be planed, one ceiling leak; Church – Roof access door and one lower exit door need to be replaced, South entry doors need weather stripping replaced, exterior paint for North stained glass , displaced roof tiles, South stained glass still has water damage, interior paint touch up; Rectory – heating system needs a new boiler/system upgrade, South façade cracks/leaks and paint, displaced roof tiles, drain pipe repairs, two interior ceilings have leaks/water damage. We are a busy parish! Research shows that the busier peo-ple are, the happier they are. If you are busy, just be happy. If you are busy and you are not happy, you were not part of the research. Do you remember the story of the little boy who answered the phone when the pastor called? "May I speak to your parents?" "They're busy." "Oh. Is anybody else there?" "The police." "Can I speak to them?" "They're busy." "Oh. Is anybody else there?" "The firemen." "Can I speak to them?" "They're busy." "So let me get this straight -- your parents, the police, and the firemen are there, but they're all busy? What are they doing?" "Looking for me."

NotesCollections were up for the first time in many years, despite envelopes being down. We are starting to see benefits from the Stewardship progam. We are still incurring 3rd party expenses for the Stewardship Program which are highlighted above. It should be noted that the Sports Program has been transferred tothe School and the results are no longer reflected in our report. Last year we had a non-recurring donation of $156,065. However, on the positive side results from our investment portfolio are showing excellent returns. This portfolio is administered by the Archdiocese. The Preschool continues to be at peak capacity and made a very positive contribution to the Parish.Thank you for your continued support.
