TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION What makes the Eucharistic Prayers for Masses with Children different from the others? First, there is the in-tended assembly, which is described as comprised of mostly children of school age. There are three Eucharistic Prayers for Masses with Children available to us now in the missal. The first one has a very simple form, easily grasped by even a young child. The second has a great deal of participation by the assembly—repeated sung ac-clamations. The third has a number of variations that can be tricky for a priest to handle if he hasn’t prepared care-fully. All of this work does point to a true treasure of our tradition: children are part of the Sunday assembly, pre-cisely because they are baptized members of Christ’s body. By contrast, the churches of the Reformation tend to look upon children as members in training, and see worship as an adult activity. Sunday school happens downstairs while the adults celebrate Holy Communion upstairs. In a phrase, that’s not Catholic. Children belong to Christ and to the assembly. So, the desire to care for the children in the assembly, to draw them into the pray-er, and to adapt our rituals and texts to their needs is deeply Catholic, a true pastoral effort to help draw every-one into the praise of God. —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
Forty Days For Life
An hour doesn't seem like much, but God can use your hour of prayer to save a life. Of course, you have to make a commitment to do it.
Do you need a nudge of encouragement? We have one for you. And it's very powerful.
It's from someone who knows the power of your prayers on the sidewalk. She watched many vigils from inside her Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Bryan, Texas before joining that vigil. She knows the power of going out to pray ... and the consequences of deciding not to go out to pray.
Listen to this moving, heartfelt message from former Planned Parenthood manager Abby Johnson. To see Abby's story go to https://40daysforlife.com/2017/10/12/day-16-heres-nudge/ Nuestra Parroquia ha sido invitada a unirse a muchas otras iglesias en la diócesis para ayunar desde hoy hasta el 5 de noviembre para ponerle fin al aborto sobre todo orar mucho.
