STEP FIVE: PUBLISH

The DO’S

Write in plain English. Do not use jargon or names of ingredients which are not known to the world. Be specific, give clear instructions.

Simple way of writing -Wash and cut tomatoes. Better way of writing -Wash and finely chop/slice tomatoes. You need to be specific and give clear instructions to your reader about the actions, while making a dish.

Repeat the Ingredients. It’s good to repeat the ingredients which you added in the same sequence -as you have done while cooking rather than saying add all the ingredients (because that’s not how you actually cook).

Learn Verbs/ Actions. Learn words which describe the actions of cooking, e.g. “Sprinkle” and “Drizzle” are two different words with different meanings. So are finely chopped, chopped and sliced. These actions will help the reader to imagine the way you have made the recipe.

Write in Separate and Short Steps. Write clear steps in sequence just like how you actually made your recipe. Don’t try to put everything in one step.

Use Correct Punctuation. Use those commas and full stops. If you have put a full stop ( . ) begin from a new line and step of the recipe. It is annoying to see lots of commas and full stops in a single sentence.

End off the Recipe. Because all is well that ends well! At the end of your recipe, finish with steps such as - the serving (how to serve), garnishing (how to garnish) and storing (if required) steps. It makes your recipe look complete.Source:https://www.plattershare.com/article/how-to-write-the-perfect-recipe-do-s-and-don-ts

SPEECH WRITING ROAD MAPGet the attention and interest of your audience. The introduction is extremely important. Use the following techniques to make it impressive.RELATE the Topic to the AudienceBring the topic home to your listeners. They will be more likely to be interested if the topic relates to their personal lives. Keep the target audience in mind. Include a personal account. They should be able to say “Hey, I know that!”

STARTLE our AudienceSharing a shocking statistic or making a bold statement will grab the attention of your audience as well as introduce them to your topic. You can also include quotes from experts.

QUESTION the AudienceAsking a rhetorical question or a series of questions is another way to get the attention of your listeners. Keep in mind it’s not a question and answer session. They are not meant to give you the answer immediately.

Draw your audience into your speech with statements or action that piques their curiosity. If it is something about education you could hit on the board, imitate your teacher etc. The gesture should relate to the topic.

Begin with a QUOTATIONBeginning with a quote from a famous writer or book, from a poem or song, from a television show or movie is another way to arouse the interest of your listeners. It must relate to your side of the argument.

Tell a STORY We all love stories and they work well in your introduction. Be sure that your story relates to your topic and you are not just telling it for a laugh.

Tell a JOKEIf it is a more light-hearted topic, use a short joke to grab the readers’ attention.

Greet your audience: Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen …

Introduce your topic

AVOID SAYING: My name is Thabo and today I am going to speak about Teenage Brand Snobs. BORING!!! Here is a better introduction: “Mommmm, I need knew clothes for the casual day at school, but I tell you now that if it is not Guess, Levis, or Diesel, I won’t wear it!

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen, band name crazy – that is what teenagers today can rightly be called.

The English proverb is not said in vain: Rather dead than out of style.

Do you think that I am over exaggerating? I will convince you through the next four standpoints.

BODY

Tell your story.1. Make a point and explain your point2. Make a second point and explain your point3. Make a third point and explain your point4. Make a fourth point and explain your point

USE TRANSITIONS WORDS (and, in addition to, moreover, besides, furthermore, first, second, finally, as well as, likewise, in fact, as a result) TO LINK YOUR POINTS

CONCLUSION Tell the audience why you believe in what you have shared.
